I just love concise, knowledgeable people on the news...though his points about training, talking, eating & drinking are of value.

I like the gruff voice. He even sounds like a Harley. However, most of his points not concerning helmets are true.

I would like to through my 2 cent in... Your a ******* to ride a bike with out a helmet.

I much rather take my chance with a helmet then with out any day

O...my...God! A news station actually put Jethro on the air?! I was waiting for a punchline, because it's gotta be a joke, right?--the outfit, the accent, the Chico and the Man dump of a set.... I always thought the media was too quick to call anyone willing to stand in front of a camera an "expert." Now I know it's true.

Here's a thought: even if you took all the cars off the road, the fatality rate would only drop to 50% of what it is now, because riders are pretty good a killing themselves all by themselves....

So he makes a couple of good points, then through his 'pretzel logic', determines you don't need a helmet. Pretty warped opinion.

I have two close friends that have both lost it into gravel on the side of the road. They may not have been dead without a helmet on, but they sure as hell would have been at least as ugly as that guy.

The only valid point he made was the sentence about cell phones, eating/drinking and drunk driving. Everything else he said about helmets was false. It sounded like an ABATE commercial rather than responsible journalism.

Let’s focus on just one part of the drivel that the Darwin candidate was expounding on, the 14 mph helmet. Hmm, wear a DOT helmet and crash at 13 mph and you live, crash at 15 mph and you die so why wear a helmet? Someone needs to pick him up and swing him around by his feet at 13 mph sans helmet and let his head hit a brick wall. End of demonstration, end of story, end of the ‘spokesman’. Did ya notice his gay selection for the prop helmet? What a nice open face Captian America jobber it is.

Guess I have a death wish, I always wear a helmet even though NH is a helmet optional state.

responsible journalism
These days I believe that is an oxymoron. (And, I’m not talking about Billy Mays.)

That helmet was very popular in the early 70's. It's probably been sitting around his shop since then.

The rest (look, talk, attitude) were all cliche's. I bet he was an extra in "Renegade".

dude was an extra from the movie "Wild Hogs".

Lady at work, who is a Harley rider along with her husband, found out about ATGATT last week. Had a 30 mph get-off, wearing at least beanie helmets but no gloves or jackets.

She has some really bad road rash on her arms, legs, face and hands now.

Her new mantra? "I didn't wear gear before but I am going to now".

Plus, if he stuck that "manly" finger in my face, he'd have it stuck up his ass for the forseeable future ... what a bunch of poseur ********.

Its been law in the UK since the mid 70's. Anyone taking any notice of that garbage deserves what they get.

I have question for him....why do all motor sport participants use them?

Sleazy covered that. He mentioned one death that he claims was directly the result of wearing a helmet, it is implied that if the NASCAR driver had not been wearing a helmet he would have been unharmed. Now to draw a line from only one point -- helmets kill, even in motor sports. :glare:

Earnhardt's next snapped because he wasn't wearing a neck brace or a Hans device....not because of a helmet
