Hey all,

I'm having a small electrical issue with my GenII FJR1300.
I had to change the front light assembly (fairings headlight etc), now it's almost all back together and I noticed that with the ignition key off, the rear lights stay on. The bike turns on and all seems functioning fine, but obviously I can't leave it like that because it drains the battery in few hours.
I tried fiddling about near the battery and I found a fuse (5A) outside the fuse box that it's covered by a small black plastic cap. If I remove that fuse (see picture below), the lights in the back turns off. When I turn the ignition key, it's on again and all seems to be functioning fine.
My question is, does anybody know what this fuse is for? if it's there it must have a reason, but I can't figure out what it is. I checked the service manual but didn't find much.
any help greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Are you the original owner?

To the best of my knowledge there is no such fuse on the stock FJR.

Perhaps a previous owner wired in some type of accessory?

The rear lights are connected to the license plate light and the front running lights, are these on with the fuse in?

In all probablility there has been a relay and/or a diode fitted to prevent back-feeding of this fused circuit into the rest of the ignition system.

Whilst removing the fuse aparently allows normal operation, personally I'd like to ensure that whatever was done was not going to cause a problem. I'd suggest following the wire, finding out what was done, and probably removing the "extras" and reconnecting the original wiring. The original wire colour for this circuit was blue with red tracer.
