Looking at a 2005 with about 14k on it, non abs. The dealer is asking $7,500 for it. I'm thinking of offering $6,500 but prices on the internet seem to vary a good bit so I'm not sure what's fair.

What do you guys think would be a good price for it? It looks ok, minor fairing scratches here and there. Comes with a givi trunk, highway pegs, and handlebar risers. No maintenance records. I plan to test ride it tomorrow so I'll know if it's mechanically sound or not hopefully then.

I really like it so far though. I've been riding a zx-14 for the past couple of years and will be trading that in since most of my riding is commuting/long trips. The fjr seems to be nice and sporty while maintaining comfort and places to carry stuff so I think it could be perfect for me.

Thanks!

I've got a 2005 w/ ABS. I paid $7500 a year ago with 7000 miles. With the economy, the miles and non ABS, I think $6500 would be the ceiling on the bike you describe.

I also have a ZX14. I'm using it for drag racing. I ride the FJR everywhere. Not as fast as the 14, but much more practical while still maintaining the full fun factor.

I lucked out on the list ($4875 for my 05 w/8000 miles, yamaha top case and cruise)

It is a buyers market- prices vary per region also- good season for buyers though!

either way ...you are looking at a great bike! :D

Hey tall dude? what part of the country ya from? I does have some bearing on the price I've noticed. But personally I think it's about a grand high also.

I hear prices are lower around your neck of the woods. You got a reputation there bust...

Any Yamaha dealer should be able to pull up the service record (if done by a Yamaha dealer ) and in the Yamaha system. Closer to 6K would be a better price

Got them down to $6750 after several rounds of negotiating. Based on my shopping around on the internet last night, that price falls about in the middle of the pack so I'm satisfied.

Got a little less on my trade than I was expecting too but that's what I get for riding a sportbike 20k miles I guess  2007 zx-14 with 20500 miles for $5300. I was expecting $5500 so not so bad.

Waiting on the credit union to approve me and it's mine :yahoo:

I would walk in with 5k cash and work from there. I would not pay even 6500 for a non abs 1st gen.
+1. You've got nothing to lose by offering low.

I did that a couple years ago and the dealer wouldn't budge. I walked and purchased another bike. A week later, that same dealer called and left a message telling me he would accept my offer. When I didn't return the call, he called several times more and, when I called to tell him I was no longer interested, he even threw out a number lower than my original offer.

You don't have the bike now so, even if they don't accept your offer, you've lost nothing should they consider your offer too low.

Thanks! As my luck would have it I have to wait till tomorrow to actually take ownership, seeing as I got tied up with paperwork from the credit union and had 3 signatures to go when they closed at 4:00 :angry2: Soooooo, I'm sick and can't work tomorrow if anyone asks :p
