Hmmm, put you a nice new Car tire on the rear and be done with that for the whole ride to and from Ontario. Then only the front wheel/tire would need a change. :good: I also would imagine you can find some nice person to change the front tire for you while you sleep. I don't think that is against the rules but not certain.

Never Dark Side will go I...... strong Force here is :assassin: .....
Don't knock it till ya try it eh...........throw a new PR2 on the front with a Michelin Exalto on the back, and you won't have to worry about tire changes at all. FWIW :) Best of luck though.......I'm very jealous.

'08 wheel wont work on an '07 and vice versa (confirmed on Friday for me) :(

the abs seson connection to the rear wheel is different... just like Fairlaner said it would be ...

I have an '07 rear wheel with rotor in very good condition (and the rear traction bar as well)

My preference is to trade for an '08 rear (and yes, PM sent to Brett about his totalled '08), but if that fails, I'm willing to sell my spare '07 rear wheel

We are cross posting.... catch me on the PM. Would like to purchase the rear wheel if you decide to sell rather than trade.

Lawrence has pm'd me back indicating that I have dibs on his 07 rear wheel if he cannot find someone with an 08 wheel to trade with. Waiting for him to get back to me once he determines which way to go..

I found these on ebay. You mentioned 04/05ABS. Seller has them listed for an '05, front wheel looks like it has the ABS deal on it.

Thanks Paul, I emailed the eBay lister earlier this week and they will not ship to Canada. Seem to get that a lot although anyone who has ever shipped to Canada from the US understands that the paperwork is minimal. I was hoping to have them shipped to one of my USA friends but he will also not ship to an address that is different than the Paypal address.....

If you like the deal and want the wheels I'll buy 'em for you and send them to you. I've shipped plenty of things to Canada for my business, it's no big deal.

Perry, if you think those are the wheels you want let me know and I'll buy them and ship them to you. It might be better if someone from the Detroit/Toledo area did this you could just pick them up (that would be Bustanut Joker and extrememarine). Let me know if I can help.

Wow....thanks for the generous offer guys! Can always count on friends from the forum! :yahoo:

Rick, your offer may be perfect as I am going to visit Minneapolis for a Team Strange IBR meeting on Mar 26. I could pick up the wheels at that time saving me a fortune in additional shipping and taxes!.

With the option of purchase now a possibility due to the generosity of forum members, I had another look at the wheel listing. I would expect both wheels to be off of the same 05. The front wheel is an ABS model as you can see the ABS sensor hole in the housing. The rear wheel looks to be from an non ABS model......very strange. I have emailed the lister for clarification. Will get back to you once I get a response from him. I can always proceed with the front wheel if it is an ABS and hope that I can work something out with Lawrence for his rear wheel if he decides to sell.

Ya know, I've been meaning to start a thread like this for an 08 or newer rear wheel for my steed in the IBR. Like Perry, I'd buy/rent/borrow too. I, like everyone else apparently, have been checking ebay since I bought the bike hoping to be the 1st to notice... no dice. You know there is a set sitting in someones garage collecting dust!!! Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie... Please?

If I rented/borrowed I'd want it for about a month, from the 10th of June to the 10th of July.

So... long shot taken.

Perry, the front PR2 has proven itself able to cover far more miles than you will ride in the IBR. A PR2 rear will cover a lot more ground than the first, (only), checkpoint as well. This sort of brings up a problem in that you don't really need a fresh tire at the checkpoint, but if you did change it out, the fresh replacement should get you through the rest of the rally ok.

So this begs the question, are you really planning on riding that hard? Do you know you can cover over 1k every day for 11 days yet? While bonus collecting? Look at the stats for previous IBRs. Yes, you're going to ride your butt off. But the higher scorers often ride less miles while collecting more points. You don't have the rally pack, but do know the locations of the start, checkpoint and finish. The checkpoint is only xxxx miles from the start. So, where the points are will dictate how many miles more than that you attempt in the available time.

Are you a top ten rider? Then swap the rear tire at the checkpoint when you have a mandatory rest break. If not, focus on your routing, ride less miles and gather more points. ;)

Not necessarily. In the last IBR, most of the top finishers rode over, or close to 12,000 miles.

True, but look who they were. Perry has to decide if he's in that class.

I would swap the rear tire during the IBR. My experence with the rear PR2 suggests it won't go past 9K. Plus a swap to fresh rubber improves wet road grip and resists puncture. Not to mention your confidence factor.

Good luck Perry !
