Just got the Givi V46. Installation a breeze except for swapping out the lid for the colored one to match my 05...scary little pieces of plastic that I feel like are going to snap off at any moment (the edge of the reflector, especially).

Their directions on that part of the operation are sketchy to say the least...at least for one as ham-fisted as I am. Anyone have any tips/advice on that part of the process?

I seem to remember that same concern. Mine didn't break, and I've done it twice. Not sure there was any hocus pocus, just go easy and fear not.

+1 Did mine in December and I don't remember the details, but it was a little more difficult than I expected. Be very careful not to lose and of the screws and keep track of which ones came from where. While you have your tools out remove the plastic document holder from inside the top cover. It takes up a lot of space and serves no purpose.

Fitting the stop light in there is even worse (from a "bending plastic around trying to make sure you don't break it" point of view)

And yes, Givi's instructions leave a lot to be desired.

OK, mission accomplished. Thanks for your confidence-inspiring replies. It just took more pushing and less caution than I was using before.

I'm happy with the finished product...the color-matching panel sure makes it look better.

And I followed Geezer's advice and ditched the document holder...I was wondering what that thing was for.
