Help this selfish male understand!!!!

I just don't get it. I want to to go to ride the mountains this summer and wife is giving me GRIEF!!!!

Granted we are pregnant with 1st child and all...but **** Man I want to ride.....Baby not due until September, so I figured hell a nice little summer trip around 6/15-6/18. I figured probably can't do it next year due to child.

She throws up the fact that I went on three dirt bike trips this year for 1 or 2 nights each. I said SO!!!! HELP I'm losing this battle BAD!!!! Granted I canbe a little selfish, probably why I waited until forty to get married. I just don't see what the problem is.

Should I just give up and write it off to hormones due to pregnancy??

Next weekend is mothers day. So go, right now find yourself a nice bed n breakfast somewhere, oh 100 or so miles away.

Take her out for Mothersday weekend, away from all there is to get away from. Go out to eat, shopping, what ever just get her away for a weekend.

Then, it will all come back to you

Trust me, there's no defense like a good offense... Been married 18 years, that's the way to get what you want by giving her what she wants.

As for the poor guy up top whose balls are about to be placed into a jar and stored in the wife's nightstand... Look at the bright side if you do go - the second marriage always bests the first.

If you waited til 40 to get hitched you're kinda set in your ways a little and maybe she needs to cut you a little slack.

LOL, you know that is Funny....I was definitely one of those guys that would say **** THE BITCH!!!! I'll find another one!!! But truth is, she is a great girl, I definitely married up!! I used to laugh at my friends that couldn't take a trip because of a spouse and they would say you don't get it.

I think I get it now, Man if she ain't Happy ain't nobody happy!!!!! Believe me if I do miss this trip there will be another one, if I take this trip without her blessing, 1) I won't enjoy it 2) I'll pay for a while. Not worth it yet!!

BTY- thanks for feedback on doing something for mothers day---do you know I was thinking that she wasn't a mother yet because Baby ain't born yet. WRONG!!!! I ran that by a couple of females here at work and they said you better do something special for her!!!!

Fjrjeff: I look at your situation a little differently and in a more postive light.First there was one than there was two and now there will be three and you will be so proud to be a father. May be you should try and include her in your riding the mountains as in planning a get away with just the two of you somewhere in a remoat cabin in the mountains with her driving and you riding. the more you include her the better your life will be.

Just think about this, put your self in her position and you be responsible for giving birth to your first child and hoping nothing goes wrong. Do you think yoou would be able to handle that situation very well i do not think so. You are a team, you, your wife and soon, new child the greatest gift you will ever have. Remember there is no "I" in team. The roads will be there and will wait for you to ride one day but it won't be that day.

Truthfulness and kindness go a long way good luck with your first new born and make this experience for yor wife a pleasant one.

You are in your 40s and having your fist child ?

On one hand you could just say screw it and go and she would be forever resentful and throw it in your face until your dying day. On the other hand you could pretend to be dissapointed and say you won't go for the sake her and the future child. Then start moping around the house, act real depressed, show no interest in sex or anything for that matter (in other words feign mental illness, manic depression, etc. you get the picture) and lay the guilt trip at her feet and I guarntee she will eventually say "if you really want to go, go ahead." When she does, take your trip.

YMMV but it has worked for me, and yes I sold my gonads thirty two years ago.

Married for 17 years. Been together for 22 years. I was 25 when I got married my wife is my best friend and partner in crime. We now have a 11 year old son and a 4 year old son. The wife has to fight the 11 year old for saddle time. My wife and I have spent many of are anniversary's on the bike. It is are way for a special day. Kids rock. They make you old fast but would not have a full live without them. My &.02
