I don't think I'll ever understand it. The logic seems simple.

guilty* = run.

run = die or cause death (or at least earn a beating when you're caught)

not guilty = don't run.

not run = don't die and don't cause death.

* - "guilty" assumes you did something really, really bad. anyone dumb enough to run because of a simple speeding ticket or something is just aching for a world of hurt.
