First: PLEASE DO NOT TURN THIS INTO A RELIGIOUS OR POLITICAL DISCUSSION !!!

From the time I heard about this, I've been saying that this cop did something well beyond amazing, considering he had a handgun and the two bad guys were wearing body armor and had semi-auto military style rifles. Finally, I see an article (mainstream media, in fact!) that does a great job of describing what I've been marveling at. Hard to overstate how difficult it was to do what he did under these circumstances:

Thank you, sir, and I hope you remain anonymous for the reasons the article explains.

Glad the good guy was prepared and survived. I would be shaking like Barney Fife if I was in that situation.

That could have ended much worse if the officer hadn't stopped those two terrorists when he did. Training, practice, and a cool head under fire paid off for him and a lot of potential victims.

Since this has been nothing but political and religious everywhere else it's popped up, I'll go ahead and lock this one down ahead of time with credit given where due and thanks that none of the intended targets were hurt.
