I enjoy the mexican stand-off when the right-of-wayer relinquishes his right to another, and the recipient of said right denies all carriage of this new right.

If I have right of way, I use it (watching very closely for dummy).

If I don't have right of way, I wait for it.

you can be right - and on a bike, you can also be DEAD right.

Geezer's got a good point. You don't ever want to be telling the medic taking care of you on scene that you were most definitely in the right and the other guy got it wrong.

 
It is a fact that if someone has eye contact with you and is waving you on they (unless they have the mutant eyes in the back of their head) are NOT looking behind or beside them to see the idiot blowing down the inside lane with the lazer tracking beam fixed on your ASS! NEVER!!!!! give up your right to your own safety
