Hey Canucklehead? Can't find a posting about the Tech Day on the 25th.

All these people responding below want to come! :D

We should let people know we have oil, filters and crush washers on hand if they need an oil change and don't want to bring their own.

I'm planning an oil change, tire change, electrical stuff and beer drinkin!

Jeff and Lucie are sacked out here tonight having ridden the beautiful Duffy Lake route from Whistler today. They'll be back in Calgary tomorrow.

I've got tires, steering head bearings, brake fluid flush, rad flush, oil/filter and final drive to do ... and maybe a voltmeter to install. Probably going to have to get started BEFORE the 25th. :dribble:

Also need to do a mod on the trailer, but that can wait.

Anyone else have stuff they want to work on, post up!

Griff

I plan to be there. more to observe, learn, help than do any work on my bike - although the rear brake pedal has more travel than I like and feels a bit spongy.

:glare: ummm! yes I will be there enjoyed the last one so much. Let me know on the cost of filters I would like to stock up. I just did an oil change but had a hard time finding the filter. Also your address would come in handy. silver springs wasn't it?

I PM'd you the address Terry.

FJRGuy and I bought a buncha filters from GuruGlen at Desert Valley in WA and had 'em shipped to a mailbox in MT. Price is WAAAYYY below what we pay in Canada for an OEM filter - like half. Same for the crush washer and most of the other normal maintenance items.

Hi,

I am interested in coming and maybe doing some learning.... The weather looks promising for driving the bike up but I may not be able to get there due to family commitments. Could you put me down as a maybe? What can I bring if I get there?

Thanks,

Worney (Steve)

Normally bring any special tools and supplies you think you'll need, yourself, and your bike.

Beer and other refreshments are always welcome, but I'll have plenty of that on hand regardless. That's about it. I'll throw a pot of chili or some such on and we won't starve.

Hope to see you there. I'll PM you the address.

Oh, and anyone else who needs directions, PM me and I'll get them to you.

Griff

Great day yesterday! Thanks to everyone and especially to our host, Griff. Great venison chili, too - thanks to Lucie.

If anyone is interested, here's a link to photos by Rallyslut Steve: CLICKY

I can't decide here..

Is Jeff turning away in disgust because Griff in the trench coat is naked?

Or it the knife he's using to secretly destroy the inside of that tire?

Congrats on your successful tech day fellas! Looks like ya got a few jobs done.

:jester:

Many thanks to Griff for hosting another great tech day! Whether he likes it not, he is the local expert!

Thanks also to Hal for all the help he gave me tearing the tupperware off of my bike and helping install Brodie's Spider Fix harness. Hopefully I can return the favour when installs one on his bike.

I did get a lot of work done one my FJR - reran all my power and audio cables from the handlebars back to the fuse panel under the pillion seat, installed GM Handlebar Risers, the spider harness, changed the oil and filter.

I'll get my pictures up later today.

Thanks again to Hal and especially to Griff.

Thanks all for coming out, was a good day and lots of learning.

Here's the tally on the work (I think); if I missed anything let me know...

FJRGuy (Jeff): rear tire mount/balance

Mr FJR (Terry): misc. clean/adjust/etc and re-balance rear tire

MotorcycleDoc (Hal): rear brake adjust, and lotsa help with all the other stuff (especially Ian's many projects)

RallySlut Steve: official photographer, purveyor of snide comments, and extra hands when needed, particularly on the tire balancing

Me: oil change, final drive oil change, rear tire mount/balance, driveshaft service and brake flush/bleed

Guy (sorry can't remember the forum handle :( ): stopped by to meet the folks and chat. Was great to see another FJR in the street!

and by far the most ambitious of us...

IanStephens (he of no-handle): Brodie harness install, re-wired ALL of his electrical farkles and comm system, installed a set of bar risers and did an oil and filter. Whew!

Look forward to next one... likely May or so next year. Stay tuned!
