Does anyone have experience taking an FJR up the dirt road to the historic ghost town of Cerro Gordo? East of Independence CA, off the 395 (Owens Valley).

I see it's a rise of one mile over an eight mile run, up the mountainside... that's a pretty steep average grade... on dirt....but I'd sure like to get up there without finding too late that I can't.

FJR?  From what I have been told even my KLR would struggle to get there due to all the loose rocks, baby heads etc.

I haven't been there so this is just from a guy I know who has on his Husky.

Perhaps a 4x4 may be the better choice. If you get there please report back on road conditions.
