How does one become an EOM host?

If you guys work up 2 EOMS, Spring and late Summer/Fall, I'll go to both. Given the very different proposed locations it doesn't seem to me attendance dilution would be much of an issue.

And in the for what it's worth category.

What I'm thinking.

We all ride an FJR, which means we have easy access to any land masses that are connected.

I have family that lives in the area where EOM is traditionally held, so that location is not a big draw for me, been there done that.

A meet in one of the New England States would definitely be an attraction, never been there, it's already on the bucket list, would do extra effort to make a meet held there.

Did I miss something? The only proposed location I am aware of is the northeast.

I'm thinking that should there be two "EOM's", one should be a camping meet similar to what we had earlier this year...that was fun and CHEAP. Just an idea...

Yes. Mr Ashe says that someone is already working on a EOM in the south. There are PMs going on right now between Jeff, Fred and myself.

I see that now. I don't know how I missed those posts. I guess calanders aren't the only thing I can't read!! :dribble:

EOM in New England? Hell, yeah!

After our honeymoon trip up there last year, we've been talking about when we're gonna go back. EOM up there solves that for us!

Of course, even if EOM winds up in the southern-ish area again, we'll go, of course.

Fred - 2 quick thoughts.

1. Chris (BugR) offered to help. See if he'll be the rally shirt guy. Did you see the CFR shirts that me, Susie, Bungie, Ice Station Zebra and others were wearing at the NAFO banquet? The man does good work.

2. Just for something to ponder: the CFR folks have the rally mid-week, allowing 2 weekends for travel. Dunno if that's something folks would like or not, but I thought it was a good idea.

And it was nice meeting you at NAFO. Next time we meet up, hopefully we'll have the time to drink some beerz and tell some lies.

Thanks much for the inputs, Andy.

Yes, it was great meeting you too. You were one of the people I had on my list of guys whose hands must be shaken. Definitely we will cross paths again... and get around to some drinking.

Here's a thought, actually spawned by a PM that ionbeam sent me earlier: Even if we do not host THE EOM up here, there WILL be a weekend long ride again this coming August, just as we've had the past couple of years called the "Greens and Whites". This year we are thinking of relocating the hotel to somewhere in VT to get better access to the Greens (obviously) which were rained out on Sunday this year. So even if we have the "official" EOM down south again, folks will definitely have the opportunity to come up to New England and ride. This may be the best solution to the duality situation.

There's no reason that the Greens and Whites (and 'Daks) can't just be a little bigger affair.

It has already grown from just 10 riders 3 years ago to over 40 this past August.

So what if we add another hundred or so in 2011?

I would Love to get up NE for some riding as well. Thats something on my bucket list. Already crossed off drinking with BikerGeek. (several times)

I was born and brought up in the mountains of the NE... You will not find better scenery anywhere. Unless you pick the roads carefully though, you will be disapointed with their condition. Harsh winters and frost heaves leave their marks and obstacles. The Kancamagus hwy, Mt. Washington, Katadin, the White and Green mountains, the lakes, the ocean and seafood just a little farther east can't be beat. We go back to visit family every couple of years. It's a must see if you've never been there.

Hi Guys

It's with fear and trepidation that I'm jumping in here :p .....but please keep CFR in your sights during your planning ?

June 20-24th, 2011, in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

I know we're a bit out of the way but we ARE on the way to the Gaspe and the Cabot Trail ;)

OK OK...plug time...I will also be scheduling my annual Nawlins' Ride to Eat weekend early April '11

but but but...anyone who wants to spend some time in the Big Easy can just drop in and ride

<back to your regularily scheduled programming>

I feel for you Jdub.. I've drank too many with the guy also  I wouldn't go as far as Fred and shake his hand though :dribble:

The guy spends way to much time with it in his "linerless" pockets..

On a more serious note: Bill, myself and Andy were tossin'(actually I think Andy was "tossin' off" again) around an Idea of a ride in Ontario next summer, The Boggie, Shuffle and several other dances that were popular when Fred was a kid :p .. We know MEM is planning CFR up north but it's something we think could garner enough interest to turn into something someday. Do we want it to be another CFR? No.. just something to do between rallys..

I say go ahead and try for EOM status.. If it don't work out, you still have a ride planned.

:jester:

I wish we knew approximately when the EOM (south) planners were targeting that for.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be August (too damn hot down south, even in the mountains), but it might be sometime in the spring or hopefully the fall again.

If so, we (Mrs Fred W and I) could have very busy ride schedule. It might look something like this:

Late May - Maine Chowder run to Bar Harbor (weekend before Memorial Day)

Late June - CFR in New Brunswick

August - New England FJR ride

September - EOM (somewhere down south)

October - Covered Bridges of NH

Yeah, I'm liking the looks of that... Gives you something to look forward to every month. :D

Hey! Doesn't anyone have something organized for July?

All this scheduling is making my calendar head spin. We really do need a single calendar with FJR-centric events listed, so that everyone can look at one listing and get a feel for what's what, where & when.

I know somebody who LOVES spreadsheets that just might step up and volunteer.

:)

this is what the Asst State Captain of the Looziana PGR offers to us in the field...he updates it himself from email requests https://www.my.calendars.net/louisianapgr

might be a consideration if an outside 3rd party program is desirable https://www.calendars.net/
