Yeah, I had a '72 H-2 750. Rode it from Indy to Gary, IN. Maybe only hit 115, in spots, but I remember it took 2 days to get the buzz out of my ears. But it was quick and cheap, and easy to work on.

I know we all probably have rode different bikes throughout our years.. I am curious, what is the fastest that you have even been on a motorcycle?
For me, 145mph last weekend on my R1

For me it is 143 MPH on my old V65 Sabre, Honda claimed it would go a little over 150 MPH but I had the factory Hondaline faring on it so maybe thats why it fell short. In 6th gear it would go 135 MPH but the tach was down at around 7000 so I droped it back in 5th gear and pulled it to 143 at about 8700 on the tach if I remember right, that was the summer of 86. I got a ticket in 1999 on the same bike for going 123 MPH - the mirrors were shaking so much I didnt know he was behind me, back about 1/4 to 1/2 mile or so, he chased me for about 20 miles on 694 across the north end of Minneapolis before I slowed down and he caught up to me. It was from 61 Hemlock to 61 White Bear Ave. When I finally stoped he was pissed. Within 2 minutes there were 2 cars in front of me and two behind me. I had to go to court over that little laps of judgement, luckly I got a very forgiving judge. :dribble:

135.7 on the GPS, New 06, just had to try it one time. The suprise was how easy it got there, how stable it was and how strong it was still pulling, when I started running out of road(sight line) and had to start backing down. :)

Well, I had an opportunity to increase my *fastest* claim a few weeks ago. New "best" is now a gps indicated 160mph on the FJR.

The speedo read 135 on my 05 fjr (with the bags on); I heard a description of traveling real fast on a bike as

"like having sex in the middle of a hurricane; it feels great, very enjoyable but with an elevated sense of risk and danger"

BTW, I had a 162 on my GPS coming home from WFO.......but it wasn't right. Something funky about the 2730's (or mine) when you're doing between a $1 and $1.50. It seems to want to pick semi-random numbers between $1.62 and $2.04.

Maybe yours is too and George's FJR is actually faster than ours?

I hit 145 on my GPS on the way to Reno in some uninhabited stretch of Nevada... probably could have goosed a few more MPH out of it, but had fully loaded side bags, tail bag, and a nearly treadless front tire..

You're the man Groo! My bike gets pretty squirrely with the tail bag on anything over 125

Side bags, tail bag, tank bag, 2L camelback must have added 150 lbs to the bike

Speedometer-indicated 167 mph on my old '00 Honda CBR929RR. Actual was probably close to 160.

GPS-verified 148 mph on the FJR, bags on, empty, no passenger. Showing 155 on the clock.

My hoodlum son blew by me on my FJR, reported a speedo reading of 160, solo, no bags, but no GPS.

Guess I'll have to take it to the secret, high-speed test track for a top-end run, solo, no bags. :yahoo:

Coming back home from WFO5, in Nevada, on a beautiful flat divided highway, absolutely no traffic either direction, and we had just passed 3 LEOs attending to someone in a pickup truck.

156 indicated on the speedo, with full side bags, full Givi C46, and camping gear on the pillion. Sat straight up, AHAMAY tall windshield 1/2 of the way up.

Fastest I've even been on a land vehicle. Won't be repeating anytime soon but nice to know it'll go there if I want...

Oh, I, um..never speed officer. I'm um, "sure" the speedo reads way to fast on the FJR. However I did live in Germany and ride the autobahn on my FZR with a Ducati club. Could never read the speedo above 150.....damn thing would shake to bad.

yes i owned a 75 z1 for 13 years and after 95 you thought the bike was going to fall apart it shook so dam much and try to stop that dam thing you need a air strip . As for speed 1978 suzuki gs 750 135mph on thr n.y.s. thruway and yes that was in 1978 .

I can't tell how fast I've gone on the FJR because I can't read the #$%*@! speedometer because the numbers are so small. I found myself trying to read the dials at regular freeway speeds and lingering my gaze a little too long. We "maturing" Baby Boomers can't read that small stuff, which is unfortunate as PDAs and informatino gets smaller and smaller. But that'll change.

Anyway, so I got some White Out and put four dabs of it just about the 60, 80, 100, and 120 on the dial. I find that on the freeway in fourth gear the bike settles in very comfortably at exactly 80 MPH. The fastest I've had it up to so far is just north of my 120 paint line, and I'm pretty sure I touched the 130, but I kinda wanted to keep my eyes on the road.

135 *******. (gps read)

If I had realised that 237kph = 148mph I wouldn't have backed off. There was more to come.
