I personally don't own a gun of any sort (well, I do have several NAIL guns :) ), probably never will.
That said, I will defend the right to gun ownership for anyone in this country legally elegible to own one.
With what?

You know, while married to wife number 2, I didn't feel safe with my guns. I just knew that one day I would wake up dead.
Hey Scab I don't think that you will "wake up" dead bro. :D
I had almost given up on anyone catching that.

I don't own guns because I feel the need to defend myself. I own guns because I like to shoot.

Do you guys have the Simpson's in the UK? One of the best lines ever is when Homer tries to buy a gun and the salesman explains there is a three day waiting period. Homer's reply is "OOOhh, but I won't be angry then!" Classic.

It is my 2nd Amendment right to own a fire arm. I would feel less-safe with a gov't that takes away that right. Once one Right is taken, more will surely follow. Its a slippery slope that should not be climbed...but that's just my opinion. yours may be different, but wrong, and I will defend your right to state your opinion with a gun at my side.

It seems to me that the alcohol was more dangerous than the gun.

Sometimes drinking has consequences.

Nope. Ya gots it all wrong.

My wife, spooked in the middle of the night,

My service weapon anywhere that she can get her hands on it,

With me coming home early from a trip.

Now, THAT scares me!!!

Just stumbled on to my favorite topic.

OK......

More guns, less crime.

Can you just imagine being in one of those gun free kill zones like Luby's , the Long Island train, Columbine, or Va Tech?

I have to believe that EVERYONE there was praying for someone, anyone, to pull their own gun and stop the slaughter.

Gun free zones are dangerous zones!

If you don't like gun ownership, put up a sign in your yard that says,"This house is a gun free zone".

Just having concealed carry laws is a deterrent to crime. The bad guys aren't sure who have guns and that makes everyone safer.

Yes, I feel safer with mine. Have carry permits from 2 states, carry whenever possible. Ya never know.......

Keep the political opines to the appropriate area or this thread will be padlocked  . RTFM, clearly listed parameters are given on the first page. It's been a pretty good thread so far, don't go ****** it up for everybody else.

Or else santa will put coal in your stocking :p

I'm not sure I'd agree that this thread has been all that great. Pretty predictable responses really.

Please, no coal...

Just got my concealed permit for Oregon and have had a Washington permit for 30 years. I belive that everyone should be able to choose "NOT" to be a victim. If you are not comfortable with weapons that is your choice but for myself I am much more content knowing that I can protect home and family in the event of a problem. With any luck that will never happen and all my shooting will be for entertainment. I even have a bullet trap in my shop for indoor fun in the winter months.

With respect Fred, it has been predictable to you but very interesting to me, and has highlighted a major difference in the way of life between our countries, that I for one was not aware of.

Before taking part in this forum it was my impression that in the USA guns are avilable to all but I imagined that few would own them. Having read the few threads that relate to them, it strikes me that you almost all have them, and often more than one. You talk about them as I might chat with work mates about power tools.

We are very wary of any scenario that involves a gun. For that reason we are more and more nervouse as gun crime increases here. I have only ever held a hand gun once about 20 years ago when invited to a range. The only others I have seen are on airport cops and that is always a shock, (you always forget about it until you are confronted by it). It is something that you have to make an effort not to stare at.

If they were available here I would deffinitely feel that they were a necessity. I would live in dread of the day that I would have to use one in anger though.

As many have already said, rather that than need one and it not be there.

Yep.... pity some folks can't follow the rules, to the detriment of others.

Bill of Rights and NRA-speak ain't part of the original thread. Y'all were warned. A couple of times.

We're done.
