I'm getting old like (most) of you old fartz here so I figured it's about time to get the big-v (vasectomy). I have a 16yr old son and I'm done, and once I got in my 40's I always wanted to do this but was always chicken-ship!. My question is how soon can I ride my Feej after the nut zipping takes place?

I have a Friday June 7th appt w Dr. Kuttnutt. HE says they do it right before the weekend b/c he wants 'nut'tin but rest after. OK understood, but I have the Cats n Daks ride the following Fri/Sat/Sun. So can my sewn up sack last the test of the FJR-vibe and in less than a week after? Do I take along a bag of frozen peas?

(ps. wish this was a joke!)

You'll be fine...don't be such a *****

I underwent a vasectomy in 1992. I rode if not the next day, the day after that. Can't say it was great fun but I did it. I would not recommend it. Give it a week, but of course do what your doctor says unless he or she tells you to give up riding altogether. I have to believe the technique on vasectomies today is far better than it was in 1992, which implies the healing period is shorter as well. Use common sense.

The bigger question is when you can resume normal sexual activity after you are reduced to firing blanks.

I took the weekend off the bike after my "snipping", which was coincidentally also on a Friday. I sat on the frozen peas Friday and Saturday. By Sunday I was plenty mobile, but no where near riding form.

Yuup! Big Puzzy when it comes to the household plumbing. Werks well, hate to mess things up ;)

How about asking the doctor.
He's def not a rider, n probably would say "we'll have to do a follow-up office call". Which means money for him, another $50 co-pay for me (dang specialists).

Dr. said upon consultation visit last week, at least 8 runs and then ~2 weeks after, I bring in a sample for testing. And here I thought the nurse helps me out with this ;) So probably another $50 office call co-pay. Guess it's not cheap to get your plumbing shut-off.

Oh, you will have to go in for a follow-up...to make sure it worked. Might wanna take yer GF in for that appointment...she can help you get the required sample.

I had mine done almost 5 years ago. Right after our youngest daughter was born. Also on a Friday morning. Saturday morning I got up, felt good and went on a 300 mile ride.

Sunday...I hurt some. Was VERY tired and slept most of the day. I was sore but I honestly don't think the ride had much to do with it. I went to work on Monday and never looked back.

Don't remember, but prolly rode the next weekend too. Told the doc about it and he laughed. Said I was crazy, but there was nothing wrong with it. I wouldn't get on a dirt bike or go for a run, but in a weeks time you should be fine.

For about a week, you'll have a lingering pain that feels like when someone grazes your nuts. Not sharp, but you'll know it's there.

Protected *** for 8 weeks. Take in a sample, and then another one a week later. If the second one passes you'll get signed off on. All the follow up visits should be covered in your first fee. You should not pay anything foe the sample testing.

Honestly, except for the samples, I went back one time to have tgs stitches pulled. Totally worth the $20 copay!!

BTW...make sure you shave the boys WELL. If you don't, apparently a man with big hands comes in and does it for you. This was advice given from my buddy that saw the same doc.

Don't stress it...Its easy and pretty painless, considering the area they're messing with.

+1 on all the above advice.

It was not a big deal for me. Female nurse shaved me and said it was easy as there wasn't much in the way.

For a couple of days I could honestly say I had 'big cojones'! Back riding (well the bike anyway) same week.

Enjoy!

Al.

From experience I know for a fact that you should do AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE for that first weekend.

I decided to get up on Sunday afternoon (surgery on Friday - as they almost always are) to sweep out the garage. Felt fine, until Monday morning, then Hematoma City. You can look it up on your own - Google images has particularly grisly pictures.

That took about three weeks to recover from. I walked around like a 90 year man, shuffling around - could barely lift my feet off the floor.

Do EXACTLY what the doctor tells you to do. It's not worth the risk.

Good info guys. This is on my list as well. We've decided to stick with one kid so this is in the plans.

I rode my Yamaha 650 Special 2 (parallel twin) to and from the Dr's office when I had mine done. That was in about 1982.

Went out and played a bit of rugby after mine, then practiced a few hours on the pommel horse at the gym, finally took a camel ride home. Then put the nuts on ice.

Wanna see pichers?

Bounce- You must have Iron Ballz!

Thanks for all the advice guys, I just want to get it over with, wish it was tomorrow!. AND- I will follow Dr's instructs to a tee. He already said to bring a jock strap in when I have the surgery. It's ready, waiting. My G/F (Deb) is actually promoting all of this as she won't have to be on any B/C anymore.

What us men have to sacrifice just to keep our women happy!

Wheatie- You must have leather ballz! No pics, No no noooo

I took an entirely different approach... I kept my buddies and my other half went in and got the full Hyssie. Of course, she had developed fibroid ovarian tumors that necessitated the radical carving up. (No, it wasn't just for "recreational" purposes) But it removed any need for me to make a decision, and by the way... I was able to ride the same day with no pain whatsoever.
