Before pushing pistons in to accommodate new pad installation, is it OK to spray the pistons with brake cleaner to avoid pushing some of the splooge on the pistion into the caliper seals? Does the cleaner affect the seals?

Yep ok to spray with brake cleaner, but keep the brake cleaner and brake fluid off of painted surfaces (other than wheels) as they may not get a long.

Just curious Iris, how many miles on your 05's? Trying to get a guideline how long mine will last. Thanks, Jerome
Huuummmm I couldn't help but wonder if you've tried to keep Iris in sight? You'll find that at Warp speed distance is measured in light-years, not miles!

Iris, if you reassenble the fronts with the spacers reversed you can put it together, but not be able to turn the front wheel.....don't ask how I know this!

Jerome,

I am at 68K and this is the first time the brakes were changed. I don't think I wanted to stretch it out any further than that. They had about 1/16 of an inch left. I downshift to slow down which probably saves the brakes but I hear it makes the tires get used up quicker. Not sure if that's true.....I don't downshift to save the brakes, it's just my style I guess.

LOL. Thanks for sharing that! I don't feel so bad now.

ps...it'll be nice to see you again in less than two weeks. Jim and I talk about you all the time (in a good way of course).
