I am removing the rear shock on my 2013 fjr100. What is the trick to sliding out the top bolt?

The ABS plumbing is in the way... I figure I'd ask before trying anything!

Line a flat on the bolt's hex head up with the flat of the ABS block.  Gently lever the block out of the way a bit using a long handled "persuader" (big screwdriver).  It is tight but can be done without damaging anything.  Make sure you don't lose the collar/bushing on that side!!  Sometimes doesn't come out with the bolt and you might not even notice!  I found it sitting on the floor just after putting it back together one time.  Took a while to figure out where it came from!

I am assuming that the non-ES Gen III isn't very different from my Gen II.

Good luck with getting the nut back onto the end of that bolt. Had me pulling my hair out for a while a couple weeks back.

GEN IIIs are different than GEN IIs. There's a couple brake line retainers that I remove to make more room when sliding the bolt out. Not too bad once that's done.

George is correct. And sometimes he says, "Give me the wrench and let me do it before you hurt yourself'"

A little tape inside the socket to hold the small retainer bolt when reinstalling makes it much easier.
