Had to get a ride in, its been weeks, my wife is redoing the whole downstairs family room, carpets, paint, furniture, light fixtures, baseboards( I did get in a 60 inch flat screen for ball season). She did an overnite grandma thing Sun nite, sooooooo, headed out for the cool part of the state in the early morn. 7:50 am ferry from Edmonds to Kingston. FYI stuff, do not worry about being to early as the ticket clerk does not show up in the passenger terminal till 20 min before sailing. Tickets do not get much cheaper than a senior motorcycle ticket. Freeway I 5 south bound was at a complete standstill at times between Lynnwood and the ferry exit and that included the carpool lane! Construction continues between Sequim and port Angeles. Highway 112 along the coast toward Clallam bay is in the best shape I have seen it in the last couple of years, traffic was nil, turned left over 113 to the ethanol free self-service station at Sappho, where 113 meets 101. Good station to keep in the memory books. Took 101 back to Port Angeles and the Ridge, this was ugly, tourist season is in full swing, going along lk crescents shoreline at 35mph (when you could) was painful, you would think the 20 mile an hour sightseers would just pull off for a better look. Parking lot at Hurricane Ridge was packed but the views are still there. Temp was 82 degrees on the way down. Lots of rigs pulling boats, fishing season is on. Lots of traffic from Port A. to the ferry, and this was not a weekend. Lots of bikes out, several folks on the ferry were interested in FJRS (naturally). Will never do this again in July or August, get those munchkins back in school. Did I mention deer on 112, logging trucks and assorted LEOs. Twas still better than staying home.
