Mr. Camping Meet
I thought that title might get some attention. Okay. It's not what you think. I had a close call with two forest rats this morning:
I was on the entrance road to the power plant I work at this morning. there is a long straight stretch that comes in by the cooling tower. I regularly like to "open it up" along this stretch and this morning was not completely different. the slight difference was that I didn't break the century mark. Right about the time I let off the throttle two deer came over the berm to the right of the road at a full gallop right into the road in front of me. I immediately braked as hard as I could. I knew that I would not stop by the time I over took them and knew I didn't want to have the front end compressed in a collision, so I let off the brake. I had drifted into the left lane and was aiming for the hind quarter of the lead deer. I immediately got into the throttle hard and cut in between them. The second deer ran into my right hard bag. I heard the impact more than I felt it. Here was the result:
this bike saved my ass two ways. first, being able to brake as hard as I did without locking anything up and second, having all that awesome power at my disposal instantly. I love my bike even more now!
