Do Not Take Your Bike Back To Those Incompetent Jacklegs.

I concur with Ashe, Get it fixed again and at a reputable Yami dealer.

Well Crap Kevin... I just caught this. I was about to PM you about meeting up for Barbers. At this point I think you've probably lost all confidence in the shop; I know I would. Maybe you could demand that another shop make it right. The shop that fixed my bike after my deer strike did it right. I rode to work today. If you want to meet up for lunch, you can look my bike over and form your own opinion.

Or I can post some before/after pics.

Let me know.

Some of my "Repairs" Also Nick came buy with his 07 so I could do a comparo. Spotted more stuff missed.

I would consult with an attorney. Not sure I would ride this bike. Take no chances here. The way you like to ride....this bike could be a mess.

Do you feel like it is safe to ride???

A dealer's shop did this?

...not something I would trust.

You're either infinitely more patient with that place than I could ever be or you've already mulled your options ...

File a former complaint with Yamaha tech support if you haven't already and get them on the phone and take names and numbers to those you talk to. This is bizzare and never as mentioned above let those jerks touch your bike again. PM. <>< ;)

This doesn't make you wonder if they've ever seen an FJR, it makes you wonder if they've ever seen a motorcycle! Holy crap, Fence!

I feel for you. I have a similar experience with my car, blew the ignition fuse and died. Had to tow it in, shop started work, said check with them the next day. I went back, they had the interior nearly stripped! Console out, gauges out, said the wiring was all f'ed up, nothing matched the diagrams (which they later tried to put on my invoice!!!) Turns out they had diagrams for a different year car, from a different generation of the car! I got no satisfaction after the fact, because they actually folded before I could sue! Not a one-up attempt, just trying to show that I feel for ya! been there done that nobody gave me a t-shirt or anything else worth having.

This was not a Yami dealer that did the repairs.

Had the Progressive rep over again today.

I am going to take the bike to D&H in Cullman and have them FIX what was "repaired". Insurance is going to cover what was noted so far and do an add on if they find more getting into it. They cannot authorize a total tear down and re-do at this time, but will proceed as things are found.

it means I will miss AMA at Barber this weekend, cause I ain't caging it, and I will loose more time off the bike, prob another 4 weeks cause D&H is 2 weeks out as of today and I have to find time to get it to them.

BUT at least we are working to a resolution.

Well, Kevin, at least D&H has sen an FJR or two....and probably has one to use as a comparo. <_<

I'm sorry you are missing "seat time", but I'm glad the insurance company is stepping up to the plate and understands the issues.

You "have" to be gaining kharma someplace!?!?!? Maybe all of your customers will start paying their bills.

Maybe all of your customers will start paying their bills.
I watch the mailbox every day.

If Just these 3 customers would write that check. one for $6k,6,500 and 12K I would be good. not to mention a host of 1-3Kers

I had to file a tax extension. hopefully the penalties won't be too bad

I think your avatar is ruining any chance you have at good Kharma in this situation. They see you all bent over so they figure you know right where your going to get it! :p

I have been told where I could "stick it" on more than one occasion :D

I would have flipped had this been a dealer. Your insurance agent should still get a holiday card :)

I always fear having other people work on my bike unless I'm there.

I'd send you some of my good kharma, but I'm fresh out... :p

Damn Fence, this really sucks, but I know what you are going through. Granted, my Yami dealer did everything by the numbers and I didn't have the same problems, but my insurance company sure drug it's feet.

As for the fairing alignment, looks to me like the fairing stay is bent, or the installer was just super sloppy.

If I wasn't in the total opposite direction, I'd offer to loan ya my FJR for this weekend since I can't make Barber due to prior plans in Tenn.

If you found that many things wrong that you CAN see, I'd be concerned about other mechanical and safety issues the other shop may have short cut. You'd think the Ins. Co. would want a re-do just to cover their own butt in case something's wrong.

Wow. Those photos really show a mess. I don't know what to say, except keep after them. I hope it all gets put back proper, but you might consider trading the bike, when it finally gets 'fixed'.

I don't understand the dual heater controls.

The machine's OEM grip heaters are speed sensitive. Maybe them dealer freaked when he priced the OEM grips for the '06+ models and cheaped out by using the generic ones from the '03-'05s. How stupid was he to install a second controller (which isn't speed sensitive) in a different place from the OEM one?

There's things that don't line up (how is the frame?) that any sloppy grease monkey might miss. The screen touching the mirrors ought to have given a hint, but they didn't notice . . . the tie-wrapped brake lines were simply a n indicator of how they don't know the model.

And if the slider is bunged it MIGHT be a 'from the manufacturer' issue - but it was bunged and the dealer ought to have returned it and gotten you a good one. He'll have to replace it anyway, given how bashed up it is.

This was messed up, pure and simple. But unless the frame is tweaked it all looks pretty minor. Quite possibly more the result of sloppy workmanship (and a measure of stupidity with regard to the grips and slider) than anything else at this point.

As an owner, you notice things that they don't - or perhaps more to the point that they HOPE you won't.

The shop may have been working from an insurer-imposed budget and cutting corners. Insurance companies will do that, hoping you won't notice - but when you do, they *will* eventually take care of you. Remember that only 1% of consumers will go all the way to chase a messed up insurance claim. The underwriters know this and bank on it.

After my get off I sent my bike in for repair, Must have chosen the wrong shop (I'm starting to think). It was a Progressive authorized repair center.

Remember I sent it back because no VIN on the new frame.

When I got it back today...

My new Delrin frame slider was cracked from the ENGINE mount side. No tip-over marks. I guess over torqued??

I look right at the neck and notice a screw is missing from the wiring harness holder

My "NEW" bar end weight is generic and does not look right (too much gap IMO) and its put on with a screw one side and the original allen head on the other.

Scratches that weren't there before (But the shop didn't do it <_< ) Musta been that tow guy.

still smell coolant even though they say they could not find a leak.

OH THIS WAS A GOOD ONE (at least I was only a few miles from home when this happened)

The new grips started sliping around the throttle tube and I lost ALL throttle control on the interstate exit ramp. (THAT WAS FUN) I managed to squeeze it tight enough to get home.

My oil light is now staying on and oil level is fine. Could be a faulty sensor, but......

And those are just the glaring obvious things

My faith in my bike is slipping at the moment

Guess I still ain't riding........
Sounds like your mechanic, sorry butcher, just wanted to get it out the door. Money may be little tight now but I would pay D&H to go over all the bolts. Torque every bolt and add loctite. Some plastic will be off so it should not be so bad. Good luck
