I haven't ridden this bike yet but i could see it replacing the fJR
Because they sell almost as many as the FJR, are cheaper and easier to maintain, have pent up demand since they were released the same the year as the FJR, and/or because they so regularly compete and finish in the Top 10 in the Iron Butt Rally?

Cool bike, but I don't see it as an FJR replacement anytime soon. ;)

A lot of fun -- especially in sport mode, managed a test ride a couple years ago. Can't see it replacing the FJR though, more suitable as a comfy backroad bomber and shorter trips. Really tight seat / handlebar relationship but other than that ergos were fine.

If I were considering the Multistrada, I would have to also consider the Tiger(!!!), Tenere, and GS. Thing is, I really like having that big fairing and windshield out in front of me, which is why I bought the FJR.

As i said I have not ridden one yet but I have been told that they handle better, in the twistees ( in part due to less weight, better suspension), accelerate faster, more torque, off road capable ( not that would mater much to me) and said to be easily maintained.

I do have an open invetation to ride one but haven't yet.

The wife would not like it but then she doesn't like the FJR either.

I rode one last year Jride. Here are my impressions:

The Good:

1: That thing was fast as Hell. I did wheelies in first and second gear. I came out of a turn thinking I would take it easy and looked down to see that I was doing a buck-10.

2: The adjustable suspension is cool as are the different engine modes. The power difference between "sport" and "enduro" are very noticible.

3: There are knobbie tire sizes available for the bike. Cool!

4: The bike is definately easy to ride in the turns. It is, or feels lighter than the FJR and has a steeper lean angle, so it's not hard to run a good degree faster.

The Not So Good:

1: At idle and lower speeds, it reminded me of a tractor. Almost identical to the BMW GS, but different. Definately not smooth.

2: The wide bars splayed my short arms way out which was a pisser with the anmenic windshield. On top of that, the windshield is adjustable, but you have to stop on the side of the road to get it adjusted. Not electric.

3: The bike is chain driven, not shaft driven.

4: The bags are smaller than the FJR's, and the exhaust side bag is even smaller because it has to make room for the pipe to run behind it. That kind of pissed me off.

5: The tank is smaller and has like a 190 mile MAX range. When I travel across states, I like to stop every 200 miles. On this bike, it would be every 150...kind of like my VTX.

6: 12,000 mile valve intervals. Are you shitting me?

7: $20,000+ MSRP. Holy cow. For that, you'd think a guy could get shaft drive and an electric windshield.

8: I'm not taking a $20,000 super bike off road without any protection, so buying knobbies would be a huge waste of time.

9: Is any off-road protection even available for the Multi? I donno.

Overall impressiong:

If I had money to throw away, this would be a cool second bike. If I want to continue riding like I ride the FJR, this bike wouldn't cut it.

When I got back on my FJR, I was very happy with the linear acceleration and how smooth the FJR is. I didn't have any, "Oh man, I wish I had that bike instead of this one" thoughts.

I definately wouldn't trade my FJR for one, but that's just me.
