Congrats!!!!
I also completed a MSF today, I wanted to refresh my skill. I say the FJR is no much easier to drive then the little 125 I was on in the MSF. The bikes at the MSF I took do not see the open road ever, and get a good build up on the sparks plugs. This made it difficult for many of us. A lot of gas was needed to prevent the bike from stalling.

Don't be scared to get your own bike, it will be much easier to drive then the small 125 bike you were riding. I am not saying go out and get a 1000cc or larger bike, but I really would consider getting a 500 – 750 or so which is comfortable for your back.

Congratulations again!!!
John,

Congrats to you too!!! The bike I was on in class was touchy in 1st and then I couldn't do the damned figure 8's in a box in either gear without overshooting the lines! GRRR! I definitely didn't like that maneuver.

I think we'll get another bike that is something I can practice on soon, so I don't lose what I learned, although, I don't know where we'll put it!

Again, congrats to you!

Ride safe!

Hey, does this mean I'm married to a biker chick? COOL!
Apparently so Dear, because that is what the nice lady at the DMV called me when I passed my motorcycle permit test

Glad you think it's cool though! Heh, my hubby thinks I'm cool! WOOT! ;)

:clapping: :yahoo: You go girl! :yahoo: :clapping:

Congratulations Sherri! Nobody who knows you would doubt you could do it. Overcoming the apprehension and doubt is a priceless personal victory. Now comes the fun part...you know, shopping for the right bike! ;) Then there are the trips to the parking lot for practice on your bike and the tentative first street rides until you have mastered your technique and gain confidence. Welcome to the collective!

congrats to you both.

Can you say "apostasy"?
no. but i can say, "just say no to year one point oh"

btw: the figure 8 in a box is my favorite exercise! just make sure you use the smaller box so the wingsters and cruisers can see how it's done.

Congratulations, Joyfulgirl, on both overcoming your back problem and passing the BRC. As an instructor (in Illinois), I absolutely encourage you to, as you put it, "Practice! Practice! Practice!". You now possess the basic skills, sounds like you're on your way to owning a bike you can ride, you have a built in riding partner and most important, a great attitude!

Ride safe!

John T: Congrats on passing your IP qualifier. Won't be long before you're teaching your own class!

Congrats Sherri!

Make sure Andrew dresses appropriately and rides *****. Get lots of pictures and post them all for us to see. You know "this thread is worthless without pictures!" thing.

Something in the 650cc range will be a nice bike for you. Used is always better than new for a starter bike. You are on the right track and have taken the first step on a journey that will change the rest of your life.

Here's some old-fart advice for you... "Aleve is your friend".

Come on Andrew you were already married to a biker chick, the only change is now you get to argue about who sits on the front seat and who runs the camera!

Congratulations Sherri! As an old instructor (retired now for a few years) do take the advice you've been given and practice, practice, practice. There is no substitute for QTITS = quality time in the saddle. (nothing to do with Radman or tiaras!)

That’s great news Sherri! :yahoo: It sounds like we are gaining a rider but losing an onboard photographer. I bet Andrew is beside himself shopping for the best bike for your needs. Watch him though… there will always be that 'I can ride it when she’s not' tickling his brain during the shopping process.

I hope this doesn’t stir up any ideas in Christy! I watch her ride her quad like a berserker and fear for those on the road if she had her own bike.

Happy you passed the MSF. If your thinking of getting into riding, I Highly suggest reading Hough's Proficient Motorcycling books. He has been riding for 50 years and his wisdom can go along way keeping a Newbie safe on the street. I read them when I came back from not riding. His books get your head in the game to 'Ride Safe'! Good Luck, TJ

+1

I read both of David's books, Proficient Motorcycling and More Proficient Motorcycling, about once a year......usually in January while the snow is flying and I'm having riding withdrawls.

Congratulations! I just hope my wife doesn't see this. She is hankering to do the same thing. Only finances for a bike for her stand in her way! Oh, well. More debt. I am thinking about a 250 Ninja for a year or two, then maybe an FZ6! (so I could ride it when she wasn't)

Way to go girl, it is always good to hear that another one has been added to the collective. Your journey has just begun. :)

A more accurate thread title would have been "MSF Training Survived ME!" I can only hope for the sake of the program they issued your certificate promptly, with no calls on your part necessary..... :p

Congrats.

Congrats! My wife took the MSF course last summer and she bought a Suzuki GS500F. I put a lowering kit on it to bring it down 1.5 inches and it fits her 5'4" frame perfectly.

Of course now she wants a Ducati Monster 695. Ahhh....never satisfied...actually that kind of reminds me of me! :)
