I went to an air show. I brought my camera.

Great shots Woofoo. If I didn't already appreciate aviation I would now

Have to send a link to my Airplane crazy buddy in Shady Cove, OR

Fantastic pictures. No small feat holding that glass steady without a tripod.

Our Lafayette airport has an air show about every 4 years. We get the thunderbirds and I really enjoy the show. I've been several times and it NEVER disappoints. I've never seen that jelly bean act - we usually have something else (a Jet car or similar). Also, I've not seen the F-22 fly. Would enjoy that. Our show always has and F-18, though and he does a Heritage flight with a couple of P-51s. That hornet is something else, man. Dude puts on a great show for us every time. When he lights both candles strong on a vertical climb, the ground shakes.

Sidebar - one year for the air show, our University played a home football game on the Saturday night between shows. We arranged for a low altitude fly over the stadium timed with the national anthem by two of the thunderbirds. Everything was kept super quiet and it made the crowd go NUTS!!!! It was pretty cool.

I was thinking about going to the Barksdale AFB show this year. I think you have just sealed the deal! Cue Kenny Loggins - I'm going into the Danger Zone!!

Thanks for the photos. I've always been a speed junkie, and airshows represent artistic use of some of the fastest machines around.

..... Our show always has and F-18 ......
I've seen demonstrations of both the Hornet and the Super Hornet. They both rock, and the Super Hornet has some extra special mojo compared to the Hornet, for sure. And yet..... they are Wright Flyers against the F-22 show!!!!

That would have been incredible to see the crowd react! I saw a video a week or so ago somewhere of the Blue Angels doing a few of their maneuvers over Main Street at Disney World, passing over the castle, which brings up a similar feel of "Holy crap!!! Look at that!!!! What are THEY doing here???!?!"

I just looked at their web site, and see the Quick Silver Mustang and the Mig-17 that were here. I much prefer the Blue Angels over the Thunderbirds, too. They fly tighter, and they do some things the T-birds don't, especially the solo takeoffs! We had a B-1 on static display, but it looks like they've got a flying one. Don't leave your earplugs on the bike!!!! His last pass is a thing of wonder!! And that Shock Wave truck is a beast!!!

In case you haven't caught on, I'm strongly encouraging your trip!

Those are cool pics, but you knew that! Thanks for sharing. We have air shows at Kirtland AFB every now and then. I gotta take the kids one of these days.

Wfoo - encourage, no more - I'm going! Just checked out the entire website for the Barksdale show and this is gonna happen - I'm pumped about it! The only decisions left are who's going with me or am I going by myself, how are we gonna get there (4 wheels or 2 each???), and are we gonna do this in one long day, two shorter days, or a 3-day mini-camping trip on the bikes?

Total disclosure - absolutely any combination of answers would be just fine with me.

Found this..... A piece of video I shot of the B-1 pass when it was here in 2003. keep in mind this is a bomber!!!!

Good grief!!!! I can only imagine the fuel that baby is burning. I guess the principles of aerodynamics apply no matter how big or small the aircraft is.

Not to threadjack you Woofoo, but my little excursion is coming along nicely. My dad and BIL are both in, next up it to invite my son and nephew. It's turning out to be kind of a "family dudes" kind of trip. (Yippee!!!) I'm really glad you decided to post these pictures.
