Attention, bay area ride planners. You might want to check on highway information. Some of the "scenic" roads (Like Suisun Valley/Wooden Valley) were reported closed because of the fire. One assumes you've considered taking 29 through Napa and perhaps Monticello Rd. or Silverado Trail North and Right on 128. I'd bet that Pleasant Valley Rd. (2nd offramp after Airbase Parkway) to 128 is open.
Anyone recommend a website? I've trolled the web for info now to the point that I'm about to commit mayhem in frustration.... :dribble:

Pleasant Valley Road is open.... I believe that Wooden Valley Road is also open. I checked the Solano County website where they list road closures and none are currently listed. Bikes are running up Pleasant Valley Road right now. Rich

Phew. Rich, I could kiss you (I just said that to pull ODOT out of the woodwork :D ).

Thank you!

Save the kiss for Fang! Maybe a hickey for Old Michael

Crzy8 has fresh Carver tape applied to the lower regions of the Rifle windscreen to prevent light reflection, bright RED electrical tape on both handgrips (wore out the grip puppies), lots o' tread on the rear me880, not soo much tread on the long life Avon Storm front. Got me powerbars in the tank bag, water in the SkyWay hydration system, and, just for this trip, I actually cleaned the wind screen.

Got my redneck lower back support system in place (ha! wait till you see it!) and am looking forward to see who is brave enough to park next to my creative genuis of ingenuity.

JB - tx for the heads up regarding local road conditions.

FJRonaMission - you are the first stop - hope mapsource works!

Once again, am wired to cell phone in route - call if needed.

See ya'll in the AM, I'm off to the jacuzzi then to see if I can get some shut-eye.

OH, is anyone bringing a wireless lap top on the ride? Interested to check in on Iggie and KaitsDad - mananna is the Utah 1088 and they both have transponder thingies..

Can you confirm Wooden Valley? Maybe you could just hop on the feejer and go have a look. I'll wait....
The college is just down from Wooden Valley and we have faculty that live up there. The road has been open for the past few days. I would be happy to run over there if I only had a scooter!

No road closures according to Cal Trans and CHP for Solano County or Napa County.

See you all at Moskowite Corners.

****** AWESOME RIDE Y'ALL *********

Great breakfast, great people, great ride...... life is good!!

I met a lot of good people today.... I made it home by 5:15pm... everyone is happy...:/

That was a great lunch... thanks for the ride this morning Don... get some sleep!!

Hans the hospitality was tasty... :hannibalsmiley:

I got some great tips on some farkles for the fjr.. Lets do it again... :p

Home by 6 PM safe and sound after splitting off from the main group after a great lunch. Rode with Old Michael, HYCLE, and FJROAM to Calif Sport-Touring. FJROAM split off before we got to Calif Sport-Touring. When we got there, HYCLE and I fooled with our intercom systems while Old Michael admired our electrical dexterity. Calif Sport Touring traded out my PTT switch for my StarCom, so I'm hopeful this one will work. Thanks to Calif Sport Touring for taking care of me.

And after leaving and heading up Hwy 4 about 3 miles I turned around and went back, remembering that I wanted to hook up my radar detector to the StarCom and needed the cable. This was the time to do it, given that I am going to replace the PTT cable now running under the tank, and the radar cable will need to go under there also.

I'll probably put more about the day in the ride reports section.

FJROAM, nice to meet you and ride with you. See you again a lot, I'm sure.

Got back to Dixon and as I pulled off I80 I see a red FJR. Well, if it wasn't RogDeb on the way home. It appears that Roger is such a smooth rider that Deb can fall asleep on the back.

Had a great time today, with some of the best people in the whole damn world.

Mike
