I wonder if my fjr can outrun Gustof. Yea, we got another one coming. Looks like I won't ride for a few weeks if it hits. There will be trees all over the roads and powerlines down.

Im in Texas and we are all keeping an eye on it.

Never ben to Louisiana so don't know if you can find Higher ground?

With wind speed 100+ Higher ground wont help you.

Just get your family out of harms way.

You can replace the other things.

I've gotta leave my feej behind :bye2:  If anything happens to 'er, I'll just have to get an 09 and call it Gustav.

Good luck Big Ears and everyone else in the path.

I had to cut my trip to the Texas hill country by a day because of this damn windbag. Left Bandera at 3:30 pm Sunday and got home at 10:15 Sunday nite...good thing, cause the wind and rain this morning (Monday) are really picking up. Totally weird travelling down I-10 East from Beaumont to Jennings...hardly any traffic, and all exits showed no sign of life, all stations shut down, hotels empty...

Old Gustav is gonna come right over my place. I believe it will be weakened quite a bit though. Praying it will and not tare things up like Rita did. We are sitting this one out at home as we did Rita. You would not believe how hard to find a place to go when these storms hit.

Sept 3, 10:23 am...my town is still about 80% no electricity. And now its raining cats n dogs with tornado warnings. Luckily I have a whole house generator, but I sure hate to see my natural gas bill as my generator has been running for almost 40 hours now! Hope all you other Gustav victims are doing well and are safe.

We are ok over here in Buller. Didn't loose power, which is hard to believe. Usually a thunderstorm nocks us out for several hours. I think Gustav was closer to you as it tracked northwesterly. Just about 50 mph gusts here. I'm about 20 miles east of you.

Sometimes ya get lucky...

But I like ta think it was all the prayers sent to spare ya...

Glad you're OK!

Still out of electricity, phone are pretty much useless, and ATT aircard for internet is hit n miss. Weather beautiful, and utility crews scrambling to restore power. I hear Baton Rouge is still pretty much dead in the water.

I don't believe in luck. I know prayer works. Thanks.

I live at about 30 feet above sea level. I'm on a hill. We do have one mountain in Lousyana. Mt. Driskel. I think its 500 ft.

Yep, BR is pretty much at a standstill right now. Very few stoplights are working, so traffic's a nightmare. I'm hearing more and more reports of looting. Lines at the few open gas stations and grocery stores are getting violent. Only 9 schools in the entire parish (county for you non-LA types) have power. I went back on Tuesday, but left to stay with family in Alabama just to get out of that mess. I'll go back this weekend for the duration, but it pretty much sucks.

And if I hear one more news story about how New Orleans dodged a bullet...

My wife works for the State of La, and has had to report to a shelter in Lafayette every day for a 12 hr shift. She is telling me that there are buses of N.O. refugees aimlessly driving around looking for shelter since Tuesday, as many shelters are rejecting them. Seems most out west have had their fill of broken toilets, trashed cots, griping, etc. She tells me that some shelters up north in Shreveport have reported urinals torn off the walls of the men's bathrooms and broken toilets in the ladies. Me thinks that New Orleans is just about 1 hurricane away from having to send their refugess out as far as florida or california to find them shelter. It's sad how some people act like animals. I bet Houston is glad to be rid of them! ;)
