Well done. Thanks for sharing the report!
The mount that broke is the one to which the Ram ball mounts, using two screws. It broke in a very thin section of the mount where it makes a 90-degree bend. Poor design, at least for on a bike.Congrats on the ride, and your new IBA membership. Nice report and pics, too.Things that did not go so well:
--The bracket for the GPSMap 378. It was made by Ram but came with the Garmin GPS unit. The bracket broke while I was in MS. It has a "lifetime warranty". I called Garmin but they have none in stock... probably because they are constantly breaking. I was able to secure the GPS unit in the broken bracket for the rest of the trip using foam-backed double stick tape and a long zip-tie. What good is a "lifetime warranty" if the company can't replace the damn thing?
Which GPS mount bracket broke? Got a picture of the back of it?
I am using the GPS in my cage today in MS, and the max speed shows 234 MPH. GPS's are goofy that way.Good job! Nice report but whats with the 0's in the max speed? Should read 150mph
I have a Garmin 276 with a marine mount on my boat and have had some pretty rough landings in choppy seas and have shaken the hell out of the mount with no problems....so far..they are designed for a lot more vibration than the road mounts. Hope this helps. Congrats on the cert, thanks for sharing the pics and info! :clapping: :yahoo:Good job! Nice report but whats with the 0's in the max speed? Should read 150mph
