Nope, not a philosophical question (sorry, JB).

With stock pipes and the motor turning 6-7K, is a feej audible for great distances (i.e. a mile or so) like, say, an R1?

Reason for my question: My favorite (and only) twisty Louisiana road is a 7 mile stretch through a swamp. There's only one way in or out and the local deputy has little more to do than patrol a town with a population of 100. So, I'm wondering how far away he can hear me. Not that I'm doing anything illegal or anything.... :assassin:

Swamps can swallow sound - or trasmit it for great distances over water. Sounds like it's time for a science project.

I'd park a friend with a watch roughly where you think deputy dawg would sit and riding away at a known speed while reved up. Have him jot down the number of seconds he can hear you. Do the same for the return trip. Do the math for distance.

Why care what he can hear? If you can't loose him on your FJR, you need another bike.

It's not about losing him, it's not possible if he blocks the exit. He can simply park sideways in the road to block me since there's no shoulder to the road and swamp on both sides.

I'm just wondering how far away he can hear me.

Somehow I don't think "Sounded like you were doin' bout 90mph" is going to cut it in a court of law.

...stock pipes? never hear ya, I'd say.

Don't you have one of those Skyway turbo-jump buttons farkled into your bike? You could just go right over 'em. They are sponsored on Amsoil's webpage, check it out! ;)

I did, but I wired it wrong and ended up ejecting myself from the seat when I tried it out...

Nice vid, beerme. Maybe that approach will work.
