I was burning with guilt here in the golden state since I've rolled up 500 mi in the last 4 days. I know it's no record, but since others here say their bikes are in hibernation, I was feeling your pain.

Today I went to the DMV to get my title & plate, (The bike was from Nevada) and it cost me $740!!! :angry22: +two hrs of my valuable time. (And it's probably gonna cost me that much for a year of insurance too!)

So if you think it's all fun and roses here in the golden state; it's not. It's more like a rectal exam!

Sonoma County, CA?

Are you kidding? If I had a job waiting for me out there, I'd leave this winter wasteland tomorrow!

I wouldn't have to be a Raiders fan would I?

Surely you knew they were gonna get their cut....somewheres.

You thinking price when you make a personal buyer purchase, that pesky ole' sales tax just jumps up and getcha anyhow...still you probably still saved a bundle versus a dealer, eh???

And you're riding too....well except where there's mudslides.

The weather alone makes it worth the price of admission. Add in the stealth factor of my weirdness vs. all that is already there and its a wonder I'm not a native. ;)

Studies have shown that it's not us natives who are "weird Californians". It turns out that it's the non-native Californians immigrating here from other states, which accounts for the state gettin' weirder at a pace that almost matches its gettin' more insolvent. So, we need your tax dollars. ;)

I wondered about that until just now, when your admission suddenly made things clear. :p :)

:tease: I'm a fan, envious actually. We need a fishing smiley. :p
I was just funnin' you. We have great roads here, and all the other stuff you know about. If yer gonna have snow, it only makes sense to me if it's on mountains. Considering a move away in next few years -- possibly ID, OR, WA, AK, MT or even NV again.

What about the doll I didn't get a chance to meet in Glacier?

Will she be available?
Judy, aka "The Blond"? She'll be coming with.** At least, that is the plan. :)

** Need I mention that next Sunday is Valentines Day?

Whatz a Raider? :bleh: I gave up on them when Kenny the "snake" retired. I kinda liked ta watch the niners when that Montana feller played; he was interesting to watch, but I could care less about football these days. When everbody's watching, I'm out ride'in. I figure if I have ta spend all this money on taxes, registration, (There are no less than 20 different fees on my reg!) and insurance, well I might as well get my money's worth and ride.

You guys seem like a good team.

I still regret not stopping in East Glacier.

As far as moving to Montana goes, I hope you like eating scenery because work is almost impossible to find. One of the trade-offs, I guess.

Wish you had. That was a fun stop getting out of the blustery cold and a good lunch. The trip south from there to Helena in a constant hard sidewind was a little harder to enjoy, but at least it wasn't raining. (The blond's rain jacket somehow had gone overboard by the time we got to the motel. My camera battery met the same fate the next day on Beartooth Pass.  )

Montana's not alone in that situation nowadays. Clearly an issue to be addressed, one of the reasons I list MT later in the list, and besides, I'm here as long as my 84 y.o. mother is.

Aye don't know about the other Californios and how they feel? but I welcome anybody into our state as long as "all o' yall" already know how to drive. It's the one's that don't know how, or are looky loo's or rubber neckers that need to be extradited!

We could lose about 5 million cars in this state, and I wouldn't miss 'em a tall! :p

So, what was the breakdown on that?

I recently registered an auto here in WI, and the total came up to 764...but a pretty good hunk of that was tax.

Actually, it's "all y'all". At least that's how it's said in Texican, don't know about those other states.

It was around $500 in taxes, and $240 in the 19 other fees. (My wife filed it away in her secret filing cabinet so I can't give accurate numbers.)

What makes no sense to me, is why they don't base the fees on vehicle weight? The heavier the vehicle, the more damage it does to the road. Have'in a 2 ton SUV that costs the same pay the same reg fee is pretzel logic. No wonder all our roads are trashed, and there's no money to fix 'em!
