Hi All, just moved to the US, FLA 3 weeks ago from Japan.

Have not ridden for nearly a month now, and the "shakes" are getting bad :dribble:

Looking to buy another FJR1300A here, had to sell my '06 in Japan since it was a Euro spec bike and would have been impractically costly to ship, EPA, title, etc here.

If there are any Florians on the forum pls speak up, I'm looking for some good bike shops/dealers in the S. Florida area who can supply an FJR at a competitive price. Ideally the shop would have a good service dept, that knows Yamaha bikes as I plan to put on a lot of miles and will need knowledgeable service guys.

Also if you know of any bike shops that stock a lot of good bike gear pls let me know.

Thanks in advance guys for your help.

just bought my 07 "A" model 6/20/07 from at Honda-Yamaha Of Ft Lauderdale 1090W Sunrise Blvd Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311 954-467-0990...See Roger and telling him the guy from West Palm Beach sent you....$13,200 out the door.

James,
Try RIVA MOTORSPORTS in Pompano Beach, FL. Great people and they know the FJR very well. Ask for Alex, he is a sales manager.

Pedro :D

Riva was all out of FJR1300's

+1 on Riva. Bought my '05 there, also from Alex.

I have not used them for service yet, but I have heard good things about the department. I have personally heard BAD things about the shop in Sunrise mentioned above. Of course, YMMV.

Guys, thanks very much for all your suggestions, I was actually all set to head down again to both Riva & FL motorsports this Sat. While doing some Googling last night in preparation I came across this ad for www.megamotorcyclesale.com sometimes you can get good deals at such events. So I figured I'd check it out first before heading down to see the two dealers again. Well as luck would have it there was a bike dealer there (www.browardmotorsport.com) who had a 07 FJR1300A and just for the duration of this sale they had a deal with Yamaha where they could wave the crating and shipping charges.

As a result I lucked out and was able to put down a deposit on a new Feejer for an OTD price of $12,775 - picking it up on Monday :yahoo: :clapping:

Guys, any advise on insurance down here? At the megacycleshow I met with a company called JAD Insurance Group, who as far as I understand are the Priceline.com version of the bike insurance field down here and the guy said he would source a few quotes for me from different companies by Monday.

I was wondering what the typical bike insurance policy here is, 3rd party damage only (other vehicles & people), comprehensive (including your bike), etc. The guy mentioned that choices include 10-20-10 through to 100-200-100??? , etc.

These don't really mean that much to me at this point so any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Allstate had the best rate for me in Miami. I have three bikes insured with them, but until just recently State Farm had a better rate for my car. Now the Allstate rate is better for the car also. The South Fla insurance market is pretty bizarre and things change, so check around.

haha...i'm sure there is.

be sure to post up some of your horror stories on GR so we can feel better about living here instead of there. :p
