OK, so it's over $10, but not by much.

I bought a wire harness from an outfit on Ebay that has a water tight mute button and your choice of a red or blue LED. I think you can get them made to order and have them cut the harness to any size and even add multiple LEDS if you wanted. I just bought 2, put one in the car and one on the bike. $17 each, shipped.

I took some shrink tubing and covered the LED so it would be more water resistant and give me a better way to stick it to my guages. I was able to aim the LED right at my eye, but it could use some improvement, like a reflector from an LED flashlight to increase the size of the light. Maybe multiple LEDS and make a cluster, but the audio does got through my intercom so I have both working for me.

Criminy, if that don't work I'll have to hook it up to a taser to shock my throttle hand. :yahoo:

See in the last 2 pics, I put the mute button just inside the throttle so I can easily hit it with my thumb.

No hole or cuts.

OK

DUDE

you are being irresponsible with your "flashy" pictures and no additional details...

how, exactly, do you have audio as well?!?!?!?!

and what kind of LED did you get? size? MCD rating?(brightness) volts??

and a little 'sketch' of diagram would be super handy...

and as for the parts you have, like the mute button, we need linkys...

I'm sure this is all so simple for smart people, i can take your heart out and put it back in an jump start it, but fancy smancy wireing like you are doing is way past me... :)

Keep in mind that LEDs can be highly directional with some sort of diffuser.

I have the Marc Parnes and milled off the bottom bit so it's basically a small rectangular box. I also added a diffuser to the front (a small piece of 1/8" thick white PE). The whole piece of PE lights up and can be seen from any angle.

Good to know... i was wondering if the Marc unit could be milled off... a basically rectangular box is what i'm after... and then mount on the flat spot just above the tach or radius it a bit to mount just on top of the speedo...

curious how much you took off? pics???
I don't have a picture of mine at the moment, but in the following picture you can see the part I removed (highlighted in green). First I spoke to Marc to find out where the wires run inside the block and he told me that they run straight back from the lights, the angled based is purely aesthetic and/or holds it at a nice viewing angle.

If you have one in your hands, you can see the pocket that is cut out on the back based on where the epoxy is located.

I used the slide-in windshield mount (with the suction cups removed) to mount the visual alert to the detector on my dash shelf.

this is exactly what i needed to know... and was hoping for.

too late to get one in time for my trip tuesday, but it looks right.

how long is the cord??? id like to snake it under the instrument panel but don't think 24 inches will make it

I used the H.A.R.D, wireless visual alert for years..great unit but $$$..Sold it when I got the Feej since I could easily hear the Escort..[mounted on the mirror hole]

Nothing fancy shmancy about doing this. Go to this link. Find the harness that works with your RD and add the LED, or multiple ones, to your order. Safe n sound1 They could probably put a cig lighter plug on it if you don't want to hard wire it.

Sorry, looking back my post was a bit much. Those pics did come out freakin huge. Looks like i finally figured out how to post pics
