Let's not talk about Ray and mirrors, lol.

I have pictures of that too! When the washers got dropped and scattered I bet you were thinking," why the hell did he have to mess with MY bike?"
Oh man, do post those pics...I did not know that happened. That damned blue bike kept me tied up all day long. Scott probably had that same sick feeling in the pit of his stomach a lot like I did when Ray says "we're going to have to tear your engine apart:"

I didn't get a picture of the washer drop. Just Ray messing with the mirror. Ray was talking all day about going into a transmission. He just jumped on the opportunity when he heard your measurement.

I was cringing when I was doing my valve checks for the same reason.

We shoulda put some of Billy's spilled drink on them washers, that woulda stickied it up better. Dave, let us know how that idle situation progresses...... we did not like the fact that one valve had no clearance and we don't know how long it has been like that. This was a first. Hopefully it will iron itself out as the valve gets a chance to seat more properly.

Again, props to Bob for putting together another successful tech day. I have to point out that every tech day I've attended in the last 3 years, Bill and Ray have gone out of their way to show up and donate their time to work on everyone's bike. These guys are totally selfless. Very impressive gentleman. My deepest gratitude is sent your way. Thank you both.

That's a good question.I shot back on the superslab. It felt a little better but I want to get it on some real curves before I pass judgement. I'm heading out tomorrow locally and I'll make sure I get some in.

Jeff, you know, there was a travelling road show called Barnum and Bailey's....... the pomp and circumstance, the circus, the magic.... and didn't P.T. Barnum say something about one born every minute....... we got ya fooled.....

Ok.. so here's the official results for my bike. It's running significantly smoother with new plugs and the sync. The suspension (now that it's properly set) feels tons better. I think the bike is more capable than I am so I'm at the limit to what I'm feeling with it.

Another thread that won't die! So remember that nut that Ray found by my forks? Well, I figured out where it came from. There's 2 bolts that hold on the fairing stay to the front of the actual frame. Both nuts were missing, The bolts themselves don't look easily removable. In fact, they have a smooth head on the one side, so they must be in a square hole. Replaced both nuts, and wouldn't you know it, that weird movement I had in my nose cone is now gone. :)

Awesome! The front end of your bike sure moved up and down more than I've ever seen. Glad you got to the bottom of it. I'm sure it feels good to solve that issue. Someone must have had that nose apart and never got the nuts tightened up on there. Good deal!

Maybe it came from the dealer that way? There's no reason to ever have to take those nuts off even if you have to take the nose cone off. I'm glad I got to the bottom of it too. The fairing on my old concours moved similarly but that was just poor design.

I've taken just about every bolt out of the front of mine (disassembled each piece of the fairing and nose cone) but every piece went back together without the movement you had. That's why I thought maybe it had something to do with the 4 Phillips screws that attached the nose to the front. Glad you got it resolved.

My front suspension is WAY better than it was. Aside from Bob's skepticism about my choice of fork oil weight (almost second guessed my decision), I believe I made the right choice in going with the Silkolene Pro-RSF 10W. The response is great and there's no "nose dive" like before...wondering if I can do anything with the rear (without shelling out a grand for Ohlins).

Keep your eye out for either a penske or an ohlins (or a Wilbers like u found) used ones pip up... even more as guys switch to the ES models. 500 plus 100 for a rebuild and you're done
