Trust me. We gave him grief for not having a set!

I almost did give Bill a sippie cup. Ray was already using the grandson's bowl!

After Ray finally managed to get the blue FJR out of the garage we let him have some of Bob's award winning chile....

We didn't trust him with anything breakable so we put the chile in Bob's three year old grandson's Barney the Dinosaur bowl.

While Ray was chowing down Bob showed us his motorcycle turntable...

We also didn't trust Ray with the KTM either so Ray tried some FJR motocross on Bob's front lawn. The FJR makes for a really poor motocrosser and hardly made it out of the gate before getting stuck....

The rest of the ride that day was soggy and unworthy of photos. We did make a stop in Maryland for lunch and had a nice chicken - bacon panini...

Here is a screenshot of the weather radar showing the slop we rode through today...

We are stopped at State College, PA for the night before making a run for the border tomorrow to the home of socialized medicine and marijuana dispensaries.

Maybe Bob should have charged the owner of the blue bike a storage fee....wait a minute, I was the only one there with a blue bike...never mind!

Thinking I would have had a chance to get the bike off the trailer and go for a ride, I had planned to post my "Tech Day" thoughts and impressions yesterday. I managed to get the bike in the garage and that was about it (this Seattle weather sucks!). I left the house this morning around 0300 and the rain was coming down in buckets so it was difficult to get a good feel of the serviced forks but it did feel much mo' better.

I guess I thought the bike's nose was supposed to dive like that, doh! The jury's still out on the engine...the idle fell below 1000 once the engine warmed up and kept wanting to die. Lucky for me I took my stubby phillips head screwdriver. I had to stop in Fredericksburg and made a small adjustment to the idle. Once I get home this evening, I'll have a better chance to see what's going on.

  • BIG thanks to Bob for hosting the Tech Day, especially as the day wore on and the consumption of adult beverages began to mingle it's way into the events (I did not partake)...not mentioning any names here! Lets just say a lot of kitty litter was installed on the floor!
  • Behind every good man is a GREAT woman and Janet is deserving of this accolade. Bob, please pass my appreciation on to her. The food was plenty and it hit the spot! Bob's hot Italian Sausage chili was excellent too.
  • Special thanks to Bill and Ray for the work my valves. After seeing them in action and what's involved, I now know that it's something that I would never take on by myself. Bill's words of "man, this isn't good" and Ray's words of "something's not right, we're going to have to tear into it" still haunt me!

I could learn a lot from those two "outlaws" if only they lived closer.
This was a great learning experience for me (taught me that I don't know $!#t from Shinola) but even greater than that was the group of guys who attended. I hope to meet up with them again to spend some time getting to know them and hopefully all-day servicing won't be involved on that "damned blue bike".

Ditto. What he said :)

I hope Mike isn't planning on making that KTM into a CBR (there are certain people who will get that)

This question is for Bill and Bob (at least). I'm not sure how many others were in on the conversation.

Q. What's different about this picture?

It is FINALLY out of Bob's garage and the mirrors are not poking me in the back.

Rolled in to Beautiful Downtown Bowmanville at 20:30. I forgot about the Victoria Day Holiday and everyone who lives in Toronto was on the QEW trying to go back to the cesspool that is Toronto. Traffic started backing up in Niagara Falls which is 100 km from Toronto. I bailed on the QEW and took the scenic route along the base of the escarpment. Nice ride but adds tons of time to the trip home.

I'm tired but just wanted to post to let you know I got home OK.

Glad you got home safely. I was wondering what kind of **** you would run into based on the timing of your crossing.

This whole thing was real nice to look at, Bob. Did I ever mention that chili is one of my favorite things in the whole world? If I don't need anything done for your next one, I'll just go to look, help and learn. I wouldn't say no if there was a bowl of chili to sample. JSNS...

The problem is, when you retire, you don't know when the holidays are........ I wondered why the QEW was stop and go, and I detoured to the TOP of the escarpment on Ridge Road. Got home about 5:30, sun shining and lawn looking like a hay field. Unloaded the bike, changed my clothes and cut the grass. Later got caught up on the Penguins/Lightning series as I had recorded last night's game.

Ding, ding, ding...very observant, you both win!. Bob got me to thinkin' about why the mirrors weren't moving. They're aftermarket OEM mirrors not Yamaha OEM so I assumed they were OEM look-a-likes but not OEM functional. I pulled the rubber base cover and found the spring loaded bolt was torqued WAY past Ray's torque technique. Next tech day...everyone will be happy!

Let's not talk about Ray and mirrors, lol.
