No longer frightened by corners!
The rubber grommets with threaded inserts at the bottom of the tank, that hold the side covers on have been loose since I bought the bike. Just noticed one had disappeared completely.
On the way to the dealer to order the expensive replacements, I decided to see what my local auto parts place had - found a pair that fit perfectly. The inner piece fits the tank like it was made for it, the hole in the cover had to be made slightly larger to accommodate the threaded piece. All for under $5.
I think it looks better than original?
