I was talking to someone on a ride yesterday and the inflatable helmet came up in conversation and then I just saw a link to an article this morning on a friend's FB wall! Thought I'd share for your reading pleasure:

My personal opinion, what about your face/eyes? Doesn't look like it provides much protection for that? For me personally, I like protection from the elements (i.e. wind, sun, rain, bugs, etc.) that a full-face helmet provides. Plus the price tag of $600 seems just a wee bit pricey!

Don't think I'll be trading my full-face in any time soon... but it is cool to see the technology and ideas that people are coming up with!

I saw this somewhere else, and (at least this version) is meant for bicycle riders. They typically do t have full face protection anyway...and that $600 is waaaay more expensive compared to a decent $50-80 cycling helmet.

It looks goofy. And it would be less comfortable for me to wear that big collar thing than a normal bicycle helmet.

I can imagine the conversation if they made one for motorcyclists: "Honest, officer, this scarf thing really IS my helmet!"

Wouldn't be much use hitting a bird. Or a june bug. Or in a hailstorm.
