Call someone on the assistance list. Stop by and put 5 quarts of Castrol GTX and a Bosh filter on it and continue on your way. An hour stop and 30 bucks will solve any stress in the matter.
Are you on the Assistance List ;-) I'll have to check, Harrisburg would be a good place to stop...

Thanks for the great tip!

I just did mine at 775. Engine oil was still really clean. The shaft oil was another story. But then again, I've never seen diff fluid or shaft oil ever not look like crap. :)
Interesting comment regarding final drive oil. I change mine each time I change motor oil (5000miles) and I have never seen it look like crap. My final drive oil comes out so clean I wonder if it is a waste of time doing it that often. Since it takes so little vol and I want to check for metal filings, I just do it.

I am, and if I know you are coming, I will have the oil and filter, and be ready for you.

Also to all those who say go for it. I been around motors all my life and anyone who builds a new motor changes oil very quickly after a rebuild. Like 100 miles. I have done it many times.

I know when we built we tried for sterile conditions and were very careful not to leave or get dirt anywhere. However new metal wears, burrs do ac cure, gears wear off machine marks, just a bunch of new metal being introduced on never mated parts. It is a very cheap insurance. I changed my own 10 at 100 miles. Do what you like but changing oil in a new motor is just good practice IMHO. And 600 miles is way longer then I would go, but I do suffer from OCD.
