So, back in the day I had bought a used Honda CX650E. This was never sold in the States, strictly Canada/Europe/Australia type of deal. Out of 20+ bikes I've owned this is in the top 3 (the others being the FJR and a VFR). Ended up being forced to sell it after one summer. To this day I miss that bike.

Today I found a *cherry* CX650 with 21Km on it for $1500. Its a basically a new damn bike! If my Meanstreak had sold, I'd be all over this one. But it hasn't, its sits under cover waiting for the next owner.

Help me! I know if I go look at this thing, I'm gonna buy it! I can't afford that ****!

My old one was white.. the one for sale is black...

Steve

that was my one of my favorites in 03 PMing you now

if you don't take it, I will

What? The Meanstreak is never going to sell??

Go buy the CX before it's gone and you suffer from permanent debilitating regret.

but.. but... but....

you SAID you needed an intervention. I'm TRYING to step-up for you. Let me make the mistake in your place, take a hit for the team... yada yada yada

so you're going to for sure?

and you called me a tease

so you're going to for sure?
Well, my boss is moving to Halifax and tonight is his going away party.. I'll give the guy a call right after work and see if I can't go see it tomorrow.

Farg.. I need my head examined... and this next pay cheque is the one where they align the payroll system (we got bought by a company from Halifax..) so I only get a 3 day pay... and Maurice is coming up.. and.. EOM is coming up... ah well.. this is what credit cards are for!

You suck as an interventionist.

Now where am I gonna put this thing...

You suck as an interventionist.
how doubly inappropriate is that? I TRIED to step-up and I made no pretention about needing an intervention. I'd TAKE it if it's cherry as you say and doesn't need mega-$$$ in seals, gaskets, etc..

then you continue listing numerous reasons what you shouldn't but say you'll take it anway, then come-out with that?

you suck period

you suck period
Let me go look at first before labelling me with the suckage. If its good and I decide to pass on it (highly likely.. damn brain as I get older has more power than it should) I'll let you know ASAP.

.... can you tell I'm jealous

seriously. Just get it then. What a great great, sharp-looking and easy-riding bike the CX650 'Euro' was. It's that platform on which Honda built their CX650 Turbo, with that pearl-white metallic. Two uber-cool bikes of their day. For '03, my two favorites were the CX and the GS1100ES (and I'll admit I had a thing for the V65 magna)

If it still looks cherry, that would not look the least bit out-dated cruising around today. Bring it to Mauricie heh heh.

Go look it over, sit on it, find out if it still has that appeal or if it is just your memories that have the appeal.

Then, if you want it, buy it.

Steve

I just noticed something about that pic. The 'red' stripe-fragment at the front & rear of the bike are definitely faded compared to the same stripe-fragment on the tank. They ARE definitely the same color on the original CX650E.

Unqualified observation: the tank must have been replaced. It might not be as 100% cherry as it seems. And I don't recall a white stripe around the perimeter of the seat, which I see here...

Look it over very carefully.

HA! Your gonna have a bit of a treat if you like GS1100's. Doug, Mike's brother will be riding an 82 GS1100E mit der pipe. Not an ES just an E. I haven't seen it since Mike sold it to him 2 years ago. Hope he's kept it up.

Your right about the CX's looks though. It was Honda's first VTwin and it was WAY advanced back in the day and it still pretty spiffy by todays standards. This is one of those bikes that built Honda's reputation for engineering and reliability.

So, your waiting to here of my call.. I can tell :D

Bike is in Sudbury and hasn't been on the road much in the last 3 years. New tires, exhaust (stock!) and the seats been recovered to near original (doesn't have the pinstripe along the base). Owner works in Sault Ste. Marie and he's selling it because he just has no time to ride (pffft..) He's going to send me some more pics and a video of the bike. I'm gonna try to arrange a viewing for Sunday. I'll have to check out the water pump seal as these go like ignition switches on Gen II's.

We shall see....

just pull the trigger, you know you wanna
Pauley? Pauley Shore! Is that you!

Good catch on the decal. That is NOT the pic of the actual bike. That is a stock photo I snagged off the interwebs. Mine did have the stripe on the seat though - factory. This one doesn't as the seats been recovered. Hold on a sec.. I'll post pics of the actual bike.....
