Just wondering who will be standing in line tomorrow waiting for their Ipad??????

Come on own up.......

I for one am sure thinking about it.

I'm thinking about it as well. Several people I work with are definitely going to.

I'm wondering if waiting for the cellular enabled one is worth it though.

IMHO, I think it's like the review by David Pogue in the NYTimes: Techies will hate it, everyone else will just say cool and plunk down the $$$.

iPad FAQ from Pogue

I don't agree. I am in IT and I think it will be a great tool. I am trying to get one through work or maybe a demo through apple.

So, what is an Ipad? One of those FJR seat covers for long distance comfort, like the beaded or inflatable ones.

They really intrigue me, perfect size to take on the bike. My Ipod touch is just a little small for old eyes. And by next year there will be a flock of pc tablets on the market. Choice is good.

I just went to the Apple store in Manhattan Beach and the ******* line was off the hook.........

I will get one during the week i guess.

It is hard to get a bad review when the reviewers have so much to gain. The Publishers such as magazines are really hurting as well as newspapers. This offers near free distribution and a potential to save some of them. Online video streaming etc. can only make more money. Apple is a master of design. Look at the iMac , it is very cool looking as is the iPhone and now the iPad.

"Not I," said the little red dump truck. I already have an iPhone and while it's a great little gizmo, I really don't think the $'s I pay for all the service and the apps make it an "outstanding," or even a "great" or "good" value. It's an OK value. SO, knowing Apple's marketing tricks pretty well, and suspecting that this will be yet another "just OK" value, I won't be standing in line with you any time soon.

My two cents.

I am typing this message on the new iPad. Standard 10 finger typing is easy on the large touch keyboard.

I think it's okay to post the review here since I rode the FJR to the Apple store to pick up the iPad.

First observations.

1. It's so fast. Much faster than my fastest PC for web surfing. Much faster than the iPhone as well.

2. The screen size is good. Plenty big for web surfing, but small enough to carry around easily.

3. Too soon to tell the battery life. But I've been using it for 2 hours and it shoes 89% remaining.

4. I've downloaded a few apps, but haven't tested much.

5. Easily fits into the FJR sidebag.

I'm not an Apple fanboy. I don't use a Mac or iPhone. But this product is great.

Favorite quote so far:

"Just like the iPhone, you can't make calls on it," Stephen Colbert.

I'm betting that you can't get streets and maps to work on it and it is already known it doesn't play flash content. I still kind of want one though.

My thoughts: A giant iPod Touch. If it were called an "mPad" or something else other than i<anything> it wouldn't be so popular. And not because it's that useful or great, but because it's hip/chic to have the latest iGadget.

I just don't get it. And I'm certainly an IT guy...
