Taking off on my 2k2day IBA run this Saturday morning. Leaving Napa to Montrose, CO about 1000 miles (rest stop); heading east the next morn heading to Pueblo, CO; south on I25 to Albuquerque, NM; then east and fininshing up in Tucson, AZ. Got my Skyway hydration kit, Trail Tech HIDs, CC, Mayer seat, XM, Ipod, and homemade baked peanut butter/Ritz crackers. Riding with a friend from work and ready for the heat. See ya on the flip side :D

Have fun and good luck. If it was in doubt before, it is no longer............

You R Kra-Z to be riding to Arizona this time of year.

Forum members please note that if you have anything bad to say about MOTORGOD you are free to do so from 6/23/07 thru 6/25/07

Good luck and have a safe ride. Hoping that the Ritz/peanut butter snacks are not to binding.

Yet another CBA member trashed by the illicit siren of the IBA wail.

Have a good and safe ride MG...

Well, its done! 2069.3 GPS miles completed in 44 hrs and 20 mins. We were actually making real good time on the first leg of the trip. We made Montrose, CO in 16 hrs 20 min for an overall avg of 61.5 mph...just under a BBG pace. The next leg was a bit slower. US 50 from was slower going to Pueblo to I25 and onto Albuquerque and it killed our pace. Had an interesting event in Albuquerque. It was pretty hot the whole trip but Day 2 was the hottest leg. I stopped for gas, opened the tank, and was showered with a gas geyser! The bike never ran above 3 bars and I had never experienced this before. I guess it is something ya'll in the desert southwest are more familiar with. Maybe I'll look into some of that blanket insulation! I was pretty impressed with my TrailTech HIDs. They offered plenty of lighting for what I needed. Anyway, the rest of the trip was pretty uneventful. We arrived in Tucson at 0151 hrs, crashed for the night, rested up a day, and headed back to Napa.

I'm already planning a BBG 1500...... :yahoo:

Congrats motorgod! Well done.

While the tank spray thing probably happens more here in the land of skyrocketing temps, it can actually happen anywhere. What causes it is your tank not venting for whatever reason. Pressure builds up, and when you instantly release it you get a surprise.

Exactly correct.

If your vent lines aren't completely free and clear of dirt/obstruction/whatever, this pressure buildup can happen fast in triple-digit ambient temps, resulting in the geyser you experienced if the gas cap is opened under these conditions.

Good job on the SS2000.... B)

I kinda figgered there may be some obstruction. I'll take it in and have all the lines checked here at Napa Yamaha. Thanks also for the congrats....and I hope your arm gets better soon, Mr Warchild....you've got an appointment with a world record!

congratulations on the ride!

about that fuel spray: i had the same thing happen to me in salt lake city during the '03 butt. it was stream right into my face. the only thing that protected my eyes was that i had my prescription glasses on. could have been much worse without the eye protection. never happened again since then as I've always checked my vent lines and do an occasional fuel filler neck service.

Nice ride. Glad you made it through safe and sound.

Last year I did Enfield, CT to Denver, CO nonstop (except for fuel, food, and exchange of fluids).

It was 1947 miles in 32.5 hours.

I was not really planning on going nonstop but after dealing with Chicago traffic I was frustrated and just went for it.

I was by myself so the decision was easy and going through Iowa at night worked for me.

On the way home home I toned it down to 2.5 days and I took I70 home to stay away from Chicago.

Getting ready to leave

Arrived

Nebraska

Canyon near Loveland, CO

Rocky Mountain Nat. Park

I would post the images but it keeps telling me "Sorry, dynamic pages in the tags are not allowed". I have no clue what the F_ that means???

This year's ride will be shorter. I am going to tour western MI and the UP. Never been there.

I am not taking the route through Chicago however.
