Is this Avon toast?

My new Pirelli "E" sits in a garage about 900 miles away (don't ask).
Do you think I can make it there, or should I buy another one and try to make that trip for my next tire change? I know it wouldn't be safe for wet roads, but I think the rains have subsided somewhat for the season.

It didn't look a whole lot worse before we started last weekend's SS1K, but it was better.

I was Eyeing this tire in my garage last Friday night. I have 2 new sets of Pirelli's ready to go for the summer and would have mounted one there and then if I had the tools.

I looked at it a couple of times during the SS1K and it seemed to be holding up rather well. My last Avon was saddly looking a little worst than this.

Its good rubber all the way to the belts Bob. :D

I would say based on your pic that my ome BT is 2x that bad.

That is why I'm waiting for the new feet to arrive, if you roll it and inspect you'll probably find worse ware in small patches like I did.

I guess I did, before putting my baby up on its center stand for the first time in over a month and just taking a look! Wow! then the sos went out and will only ride it to switch out the tires, sucks having to drive the truck at least it's been raining and will for the next week!

My limited experience: if your Metz or Pilot Roads look like that, it won't be long until you see cords, maybe 500 miles. The Avons will last much much longer as you get closer to the end, like an easy 1000 additional miles (possible 1500) from Toecutter's pix. A nice trait for a sport touring tire travelling out in the middle of bumfuk.

Wow! Thanks for all the input. :) :) :)

If I were a cat, I'd be purring.

Here's the deal. I can't leave until the 22nd, so since the bike won't take sit for an answer, I'll use up the rest locally in the next ten days or so and pick up another rear. I'll probably need the one in Washington before the season ends, so there's a nice post Yosemite 9-11 anniversary road trip.

I  you guys!

Now I guess the next mission is to see how much I can torture a Pirelli "E" this summer. :D
