I paid the guy for shipping, and I am sure he will say it is a customs thing.
It is a customs thing... and that's why I no longer buy from and/or ship to Canada... it's a pain in the butt. Most likely he didn't complete the proper forms, which aren't easy for the average Joe.

I don't know what will happen if you don't pay. Maybe UPS will flag your address and stop delivering to you until you pay it!

If you want to get confused, look at this page from UPS... just a few of the forms you need to complete for shipping.
The few times I've had to deal with Canadians, I've done so via USPS. Seems to be a good deal easier.

& generally we don't bite unless provoked  .....(you know, like being poked in the eye with a stick  )

As a vendor who has suppliers in Canada and the UK, welcome to reality. This is just a fact of life. I have to pay these fees all of the time. I think few people realize what vendors have to go through to provide products that are not made in the USA.

I HATE UPS. If I can get anyone to ship parts to me with another carrier, I do it everytime (Or have it sent to my work address so there is a face-to-face delivery and a signature.). The word "service" is in their name, not in their attitude when dealing with a private-party consignee. I don't enjoy being called a thief and liar by the local UPS office nor do I appreciate being treated as a criminal by their driver/representative who patently lied to me and my neighbors.

Rant over!

Not that I care for UPS, but I noticed one sentiment in this thread that makes me want to comment. People seem to think that just because a task is automated that it is free. It took a lot of money to develop that automation, and it takes a lot of money to have it working on a network as large as UPS's. Just because a task is automated doesn't make it free.

That said, UPS is upcharging a LOT for that shipment. *******s.

If UPS is going to screw you, at least they could let you pick the delivery person...

[Admin Note: Image removed as NWS material]

Edit: See Rad's post below for image... NWS... so that's what the warn meter looks like when filling up... interesting...

Second Edit: Hmmmm.. Rad has different pics than my original... Although I've seen NFL cheerleader outfits that were almost as revealing...

Then click the link...admin only edited a link into the situation (pretty nice of em)...they didn't just delete it.
Actually, I did delete. I left it to the author to go back in and edit their own after reminding them of the Board Guidelines about "obvious NWS material". At the time of this post Radman has done just that.

Well, only part of her was NWS, wasn't sure where the line would be drawn. Apparently, it was drawn right aboooouuuuut...............there.

I think most workplaces would frown on any kind of "objectification" of anyone. By the way, I really hate that term.
