Venice is Wonderful no matter how you view it, but it is even better when you tour it from a chartered cabin cruiser. Seven of hired a 30' motorboat with a Skipper to take us to the Islands of Burano, Tortorello, Murano and through the canals of Venice. All photos are courtesy of AZ Beemer Brian Boles:

Our boat came up from the Venezia Lagoon directly to the dock on the River Sile at our lodging the Hotel Villa d'Odino. Stopped for an hour at each of the three Islands, plus we drifted off of St. Mark's Square for 45 minutes checking out the Action!

Everything in Venice and its many Islands moves by water: Groceries, bottled natural gas for cooking and heating, food, drinking water, mail and any/all necessities of life.

We saw a casket being transported to the mainland of Mestre, good Catholics must be buried so all the cemeteries of Venice are located in Mestre on Terra Firma ese!

Murano is the Island of the Glass Trades, glass blowing artisans produce incredible art objects that are shipped worldwide and each are worth many thousands of Euros.

Burano is the Island of Lace, seamstresses and specialty shops turn out tons of Lace artworks that are highly prized. Burano was the pretties of the islands, very homey.

Tortorello is the Holy Island, one of the oldest Basilicas in Italy and the island was also residence of a large Abbey and Nunnery; still considered an Italian Religious Relic.

What does Papa Chuy Viejo miss most about Italy? The incredibly delicious and tasty food, Hombre! Nothing finer in this life than a heaping bowl of pasta blackened/soaked with squid ink topped with ringlets of Calamari e Camarones, washed down with a rich and hearty Italian red wine. Now, that's Italian! jes' sayin' and nuff said, Prego! Ciao, Paisanos!

Hell0 Enn, I don't know if you have problems with vermin such as rats or mice in Estonia. But here in the Sonoran desert we have problems with Scorpions and Rattlesnakes invading our homes, I put up photos of Dr. Rich at the four corners of my home and I have not seen a single scorpion or rattlesnake ever since then! jes' sayin' and nuff said, Aye!

Great idea! I do actually have rats in my summer house, never managed to get rid of them. With your permission I follow your advice and perhaps it helps. I am sure our Danish friend is OK with that.

All those incredible historic sites and fabulous art sure can stimulate the appetite.

Good thing that a delicious meal is never far away.

Thanks for sharing!

Mi amigo Don, I know there is problems with Venice settling into the ocean. So when you got in the tour boat did the ocean rise enough to cover the sidewalks
