Have fun guys! I was all ready and loaded up to go last night but I've encountered a bit of a vision problem that escalated and am on doctors orders not to wear contacts. With out them I'm as good as blind, so riding is out for me this weekend. Bummed to leave my ridding buddy riding by himself, and bummed I don't get to do a kick butt 1,000 mile twisty ride, but I better save my vision. And, the weather is supposed to be gorgeous tomorrow, and I'm stuck here, with a laptop 4 inches off of my face typing this! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a good ride, although I didn't get any sleep the night before, thank god I slept till 12 the day before - the temp swings were a bit nuts over the day, lowest was high 20's over La Veta Pass, and highs were 80's in Gateway, all the way down to Cortez. Now if I had one of those FJR barge windshields...

And the windshield is a "barn door", not a "barge"

And the coolest part is it opens and closes with a button!

Good job on the ride! Wish I was there with ya. Have only ridden the FJR about 40 miles in the last couple weeks. Meet with the eye doc tomorrow to see if I can get the clear. Did take the DRZ out for a 120 mile dirt loop on Sunday though, against doctors orders, so atleast I've been able to ride a little bit.

I've had a lurker account here for a while - some good info to be found on this forum. Just happened upon this thread. There are times I wish I could ADD a FJR to the stable, not quite ready to trade yet.

Yes, laps. I did the Jack Shoalmire ride Sunday, 10/23, since I couldn't do it on 10/15. 36 laps of NJ. Great memories of Jack, Eddie James, and Dick Fish were a good source of motivation for me during this ride.

We did this ride in Ark on 10-15, but did it on V-Stroms, as I already had two 1k's on the FJR, the V-strom was getting jealous...go figure....

I was SGB in the picture. Wish someone had made a time lapse of the progress everyone made during the ride. I'm sure Jack's Family would have appreciated receiving it and adding it to Jack's collection.
