I'm home safe and sound too. We didn't hit rain until about 2 hours south of Matagami. Oh well... We left Radisson at 7:07am July 23rd and arrived in Mattawa at 8:30pm. Got up and road almost 5 hours today to get home. I will post up some pics in a ride report when I have a few minutes.

Thanks to Scott, Chester and Mike for being great travel companions!

Merci mes amis! Coffre-fort de tour jusqu'à ce que nous nous réunissions encore.

Who came up with this silly rule?

What the hell are you complaining about, this one does not apply to you anyway. It is the ones that I saw for 180 KMH and $895 plus 10 points that they put up for you.

Right now I am between Terre Haute and Indianapolis and should be home by mid afternoon. Spent Friday night in Caribou, ME and left there in the rain Sat am picking up New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts. Got to Rhode Island about 10 pm then made it to Connecticut and slept in a road side park for an hour and decided to get through NY City early Sunday am. Got there about 3:30 am Sunday morning and traffic was still obnoxious and trying to follow the road system was not fun. I was on I-95 S with no signs in my divided lane as to which roads I was on and the divided lanes next to me with the I-95 S road signs. Lucklily it rained pretty hard to keep it interesting. Made it through New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware. Saw a road side wreck in Delaware, a new pickup and a 24' or so long travel trailer on their respective roofs. There was a deer in the road a 100 or so yards before the vehicle. Apparently trying to avoid the deer flipped the rig. Should have just splattered the deer. I did see an older couple walking around taking pictures, hopefully they were the occupants and were OK.

One thing for sure. Now that I have added these states I will never be back again. Between the tolls, traffic, and the people trying to run you over, it wasn't much fun. I think I will stay west or at least Northern Maine.

See you guys later.

I did not take the Matagami road. The gravel was like riding on marbles. I did not deflate my tires as that would have helped but I was too far from home and did not want to take needless chances. The gravel was fresh and really a pain to ride on and I did not want to dump it and unload everything and start again. Not only that, even though I was on a 1200 GS I still had street tires. Next year I will go to Goose Bay, Labrador and will have more aggressive tires for that. I will also probably bring the KLR so get ready.

I went down to Amos and rode about 60 miles on gravel down there going NE. It looked like paved road on the map but once on it I was commited. Luckily I had plenty of gas and there was a number of farms along the way so not too bad. Just had no idea when the gravel was going to end. Once I hit pavement life was good but gas was getting lower and started getting nervous as gas stations just weren't showing up and the nearest towns were miles apart. Luckily came across a small service station. As ussual, no English spoken here. Gas management up there is critical as stations are scarce. Even with 8.7 gallons of gas I had several anxious times.

Great trip guys. Had a great time. Next time we surf the rapids.
