I'm a Geordie not a Scouser!
Well in truth, I'm not "technically" a Geordie either. To be a Geordie you have to be born on the north side of the river Tyne. I was born on the South side, in South Shields.
To compound the issue, I'm red & white, Sunderland. That's another long story, but the Reader's Digest version is my Dad wouldn't take me to see Newcastle, so my uncle took me to see Sunderland.
As for my accent, as you said I've been here 25 years, and prior to that was 5 years in London. I learned quickly that you have to ease up on the accent if you don't want to be repeating yourself every sentence. So my accent is somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic. Until I've had a couple of pints that is, when it begins to revert back across the Ocean and back to Geordie.
Hopefully I’ll meet up with you guys soon and compare accents!
