I could easily spend a week or two in BC........ don't know if you're going eastward, Mark.... little known hideaway, if you're in Nakusp, go to the north side of town and take the little twisty stretch to the Nakusp Hot Springs. They'll rent you a bathing suit if you need one, but there are chalets rented out by the municipality at cheap rates, and there is a campground down by the "hot" river as well. Good riding in the Kootenays to the south that will keep you busy for a couple of days..... https://www.nakusphotsprings.com/

Definitely hit some of the national parks... absolutely stunning... and those PNW folk are some of the best around and will take very good care of you both! B)

Thanks Tyler for the photos...I will show Louanne the photos, she will definitely be looking forward to the trip even more after seeing those photos. :)

We will be in Washington and BC, (but the US GNP will be on another trip for another time when we do Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.)

Lemme know when you get your dates locked in Mark - we will build everything else around being around for your visit!

Right now we are blocking out on our calendar Friday, July 8 to Monday, July 25th for the flights out and back and motorcycle travel. This might be adjusted, but I doubt it at this point.

As soon as I get an idea of a good route that hits all I should hit out there, tickets will be purchased, bike hauling contract will be signed, and itinerary posted.

Airline tickets booked. Leave 7/8, arrive back 7/25.

Getting info from mcyshippers...then will get that booked.

Still not sure of exact itinerary yet...not sure if I want to set a base for three days or so and do day rides out of that, or a moving itinerary with rest days every 4th day or so. Still thinking.

I have not done base camps, what I have done though is ride a shortish day, check in around 2 or 3pm, and do a local 100-150 mile area ride in the early evening taking advantage of the long daylight hours. Just another way of looking at things.

Mark, I talked with the local guy that rents bike and he still has two FJR's for rent along with other bikes.
Pieman,if they are Gen 3, have Laam seats driver and pillion, have dual electric plugs for heated gear, a mount for my GPS, an voltmeter, brand new T30 front, PR2 rear, and can be rented for $1680 total, from July 9th to July 24th...it might be worth exploring.
Because of George and whoever's help in July, I plan treating them to a nice big steak dinner. I know it's not enough...but hopefully I can return the favor to whomever when they visit the southeast riding paradise and stay at our humble abode. The riding really ain't so bad around here. Did 250 miles today of awesome scenic and twisty roads with temps in the 60s.

I look forward to reacquainting myself with the PNW friends out there by that way.

What a GREAT collection of pictures in this thread! I just looked at the route above and have one suggestion. After spending the night at Ainsworth Hot Springs head north rather than south. The 31A from Kaslo to New Denver is a must ride! Great pie in Kaslo at Teresa's on Front St.

Well, it looks like, due to the help of some PNW and Canadian friends, this show is getting off the ground. I have a preliminary itinerary for the two weeks traveling in July for wifey and me.

July 8, Friday: Fly into Seattle, pick up bike at George's.
July 9,10 Sat/Sun: visit Mt St Helens and Rainier and return to Monroe, WA (FJR group riding??)
July 11, Monday: ride over the Cascades, then up north to Dave's place in Oyama. 320 miles.
July 12, Tues:short loop out of Oyama, less than 100 miles
July 13, Wed: loop out of Oyama, 250 mile max?
July 14, Thursday: Ride over to Ainsworth Hot Springs, stay near there...Nelson? Nakusp?
July 15, Friday: Nakusp?Nelson? loop
July 16, Saturday: Nelson to Golden 281 miles
July 17, Sunday: Golden loop , less than 100 miles
July 18, Mon: Golden to Valemount, 266 miles
July 19, Tuesday:Valemount loop, less than 100 miles
July 20, Wed:Valemount to Oyama, 263 miles
July 21, Thursday: Oyama to Pemberton, 250 miles
July 22, Friday: Pemberton to Vancouver
July 23, Sat: Vancouver to Monroe...gathering/gathering of FJR riders??
July 24, Sunday: sightseeing Seattle with relatives? Drop off bike at George's.
July 25, Monday: Fly home to SC

Others could easily cover more ground in these weeks...but we are happy with the itinerary and the amount of ground covered. The short loop days have options for hiking or walking or doing nothing...

Really getting psyched for this trip!

Be sure to ride the 6 out of Vernon, through Cheryville, take the Needles-Fauquir ferry, north to Nakusp, south to New Denver, then the 31a (a must ride road) over to Kaslo (great pie there), then south to Ainsworth. The hotel at the Ainsworth Hot Springs is biker friendly. You get a bag with old towels at check in for cleaning your bike. :) We held WeSTOC in Nelson a few years ago at the Prestige Lakeside Resort. A great hotel!

You're going to have a blast! Great roads up there!!
