Think I saw it up on Roan Mountain today. The van was nearby, they were probably on a lunch break.

Nice try, but the tracker says...NC? What the hell?

Your might consider a Destination Hwys BC companion map. Motorcycle specific and also made of rain proof material.

Great books and maps! Twisted Edge Publishing is a sponsor of WeSTOC. They also have iOS apps containing some of their books. I've digitized all 3 of their current books into Garmin Basecamp/Mapsource. Great resources when building routes.

Picked up the '13 from Adventure today and tucked it safely away.

Only problem I have is no obvious battery tender lead so... I have no clue how to keep the battery charged during layover.

If you were closer, I have clip on leads, but you'd have to remove the panel, and might as well install a pig tail.

There is a pigtail hanging down on the right side, just inside the fairing...or with the seat off, there is a pigtail.

Or ride it and scuff up the tires at the same time? Oops, did I just say that?

G-Msn has perfect back roads for scuffing tires! Just keep an eye out for the occasional County Mountie!

Do I get to help keeping that battery charged. Isn't this a face you can trust?

As long as you let the front tire get scuffed in as well...and you wipe the Kanuckians pawprints off...I guess I'm good with that...but not after two bloodyfookinMary's though.

Hello Wheatie. I am sure you have plenty of suggestions for where to go. Perhaps the trip is planned. I humbly suggest going where the weather is best based on how the weather is when you arrive. I am confident --G can help you with some suggestions. If it is hotter than heck, head to the coast and up towards Whistler BC.

If it is raining head east side of the Cascades Mt or head south into Oregon - go where it is not going to rain. NE Oregon is great riding country. The BC Circle Hot Springs Loop is excellent. Find some inspiration on my Ride Blog which focuses mostly on the Pac Northwest roads.

Enjoy your visit!

So... without reading this entire diatribe of western adventures.. when is the Wheatie and better 7/8 to arrive to the pnw?

I might have to hiJack this ride,

DC, the FJR is already safely stored in my garage and wheatie and his better half arrive next Friday, July 8th.

One week from now I should be up at George's place, reading whatever note he left. There better not be any dik pictures on there or wifey might get the wrong idea of my Kanuckian FJR friends. :)

Then to head south towards St Helens and Rainier. Then back to George's and mebbe he and the Pieman traverse the Cascades with us to up nort!

Have a great trip Wheatie. I worked in the Portland area for about a month a few years ago. Always wished I had my bike there. That whole NW area is spectacular. Enjoy every minute of it. I'm sure you're all wound up about the trip by now. Have lots of fun.

Thanks Man! Looking forward to this trip. Louanne and I are gonna have that FJR loaded down, that's for sure. Top case, tank bag, and 2 small waterproof duffles to strap on top of the side bags...ie, same as we did to my '04 on our American Southwest trip 3 years ago.
