Just got into Nelson within the half hour. Awesome time with Escape and Pieman inserting us into the underside of Canada...

...oops, that didn't come out right.

Had a great time with Dave and Sylvia who escorted us onto the ferry to make sure we actually did leave. The finest of people and so gosh darn much fun!

I had fun having breakfast with Dave's secret society...they took the hoods off so they could eat breakfast properly. I think I got blackballed because I suggested grits and pimento cheese omelettes for everyone.

We parted ways with the FastJoyRides in Nakusp...

Louanne and I had great weather all the wall to the hotel and enjoyed the curvy roads south to Nelson. No, I did not pass on the double yellow. ;)

Peter, I changed the other headlight 3000 miles ago...so, two new ones in there now.

By the way Pieman, it pains me to say this, but you can be good to hang around with sometimes as well, especially on Dave and Sylvia's deck with a Tall Timber Ale in hand!

How we let these southerners this far north is beyond me (the PNW guys are OK though)........ Hopefully the Fastjoyrides could make some headway with them.

With good beer hard to find in BC and Alberta Bill says the "real" Canada is east of Alberta. So perhaps you folks in proper "Canada" will be spared the counter attack by this southerner and his bride. Hopefully what happens in western Canada stays in western Canada.

A few more pics from the ride north.

Ross Lake Overlook on North Cascades. Low clouds and cool, but for the most part the mountains and views were out.

Next stop was Washington Pass. From the overlook you can see down the valley toward the dry side of the state (and warmer temperatures Louanne) and a bit of the spectacular scenery and highway. On the way home, Niehart and I retraced our steps over North Cascades. Being a week-day and later in the afternoon, we were rewarded for our efforts with only a couple rolling roadblocks and a clean run through the twisty bits!

Great to have you both here - sorry you had to leave so fast - was it something I said?
Wish I could have stayed a bit longer Dave. That's some place you and Syl have!

Sorry to have missed you guys! But, I have the summer cold from hell.
Missed you too Blondie. Would have been great if you and Norm could have squeezed out a quick visit!

Here at Ainsworth Hot Springs under blue skies...life is good. Thanks for the recommendation!
That's a great biker hotel! Did they give you the little bag at check-in with the old towels for cleaning your bike?

Did you ride the 31A between Kaslo and New Denver??

We are staying at a hotel in Nelson...Dave/FJR, we are in the "stern of the ship" so noise is not an issue.

Our only itinerary today is this Hot Springs...tomorrow, if weather permits we will head north to Kaslo, west to New Denver, then retrace our steps...once, twice however long it is as long as Louanne doesn't get motion sickness. :D

Having an outstanding time on vacation,eh!

That's the 180 degree turn my wife and I totaled our '91 ST1100 in 2004. We were heading uphill around that turn and hit a pool of transmission fluid dumped there by some guy who was towing a boat with his Suburban.

Here's the skid marks as the bike was sliding sideways in a low side. My wife came off during the slide, I hung on for the high-side. Bad idea! :)

We were very lucky. The only good thing to come of it was the guy that spilled the oil showed up at the scene and confessed to spilling the oil in front of a WA State Trooper. We ended up with a nice settlement from his insurance company.

Glad you're enjoying the hotel Wheatie! We hit a few minutes of showers coming home unfortunately in the twisties near Angel Falls but were home before 6:00

More friends arriving tomorrow from Regina/Columbia Falls, but they have to be on the road first thing Monday AM.

See you soon.

Slight change in day ride: I think I will cross on the Balfour Ferry, then head south, reverse and head north, take the Ferry again west, then head north to the Kaslo/New Denver road, then back to Nelson. Then Saturday morning, head north to Nakusp and Revelstoke via Kaslo to get to Golden.

Last time I took that Kaslo/New Denver road with Petey a deer jumped out in front of us and I almost rear ended Petey

The road between Creston and the ferry is a good one! The locals say it's not <if> you'll see a cop, but <where> will you see one. ;)

In Revelstoke head just about 4-5 miles north of town, the dam is worth a looksie....

We did a short loop east at Balfour then south to Creston. Passed a few vehicles to get to the front of the line. Enjoyed those curves...did not see any gendarmes or animals. I'm only riding 80% of normal because of the precious cargo, but I'm convinced Louanne wouldn't mind even more. She is a great pillion and always weights the bike the right way. Heading west from Creston into the teeth of a windy, blustery storm. Forgot about the high pass coming this way back to Nelson. Did the rainsuit dance in the high winds before the wet got to us. Passed a few cars that were just crawling up the pass. Despite the rain, beautiful scenery all around, and not the slightest bit of discomfort...46 and rainy at the top, 59 here at the Prestige Base Camp. Walking into Nelson for dinner soon.

Tomorrow, Golden via Kaslo, New Denver, Nakusp, and Revelstoke.
