Scored 3 very nice heavy crabs and set them up tonight with melted butter and lemon and a very nice chilled Viognier. Very, very nice. Marianne ate 1/2 of one and was full. I was forced to eat the rest. I need a nap.

Entered a college dorm raw oyster eating marathon (most "National" contests are 10-15 minutes)

How many can one eat in one hour:

I didn't even place, but put down 72 - most ever for moi

Nawlin's ersters are the best in the world IMHO

didn't eat again till 3 days later

I disagree on the best ones. The best come from Westcot Bay in Washington. Known to be the best and are prized world wide. :D

Ralph, you need to share. A@#hole. :)

There is nothing better than freshly caught dungeness crab. Cooked on the boat, in sea water, cooled, then served with a little garlic butter. Yuummmm.

I just went to a happy place.

I had supper this Summer at a restaurant in a fishing village in Southern Oregon. I saw crabs on the menu, no price and subject to availability, so I ordered them. Of course they weren't available. Next choice was The Captains Platter comprising of shrimp, fish, scallops and oysters. Guess I should have read the small print as, halfway through my second glass of wine, when the meal arrived I saw that everything was breaded. Ever tried eating a breaded oyster? It tastes like an eyeball that had been rolled around in the bottom a parrots cage and cooked up.

slo.

you guys simply suck,

no oysters and no dungeness crab here, damn do I miss that stuff

+1 on WA oysters

When I lived on San Juan island I kept a permanent mooring right next to the Wescot Bay oyster farm. I never had to worry about running out of fresh seafood.

Around here every high school and charity organization has a Crab Feed every weekend for the next couple of months.

Three crabs... that's what the local hooker carries.

As for oysters, I vote for Drakes Bay, an hour north of Frisco.

Just sayin'

Years ago, after getting our bonuses, a co-worker and I decided to have lunch up the road at "The Shuckin' Shack". You could get a 'bucket' of 4 dozen oysters (raw or steamed...we did raw) for 12 bucks! A STEAL by Ohio standards even back then. We ordered up a bucket and a pitcher of Killians. We slurped 'em down as fast as the guy could shuck 'em. After about six or seven minutes he stopped shucking. WTF??? We'd already polished off all 4 dozen. Lotta beer left...no choice but to order another bucket. Seven minutes later those were gone too. Damn. I'd do that again in a heartbeat. Pity, the Shuckin' Shack went out of business after more than 30 years. Now I have to wait until the wife and I ride the Feej down to her parent's condo on Gulf blvd. and go to Crabby Bill's. Ya just can't get decent seafood here in freaking Ohio.
