Bought an '06 AE model from FJROD Tuesday evening in Houston area. Have put 200 miles on it today and absolutly love the paddle shifter.

Came with aluminum sliders, corbin smuglar trunk, battery tender, YES warranty, and had 8k miles all for $9,500. Bike is immaculate.

Wife has me shopping for Touring Trunk and back pad. Will eventually move my XM radio and passport from the ZZR600 over to this bike, but need to purchase a relay first I'll be researching it too.

Really love this bike. Going to Texas Yamaha South on Nasa Rd 1 tomorrow afternoon to xfer YES warranty.

ECU recall has been performed.

Throttle has not been touched, so will research and order whatever it is I need to smooth it out.

Great bike! Hope you like it as much as I do. Lose 1 wrap on the throttle spring and make sure there is no slop in the cable. For real grins try a PCIII and K&N air filter.

Good choice, although you will find the Corbin Smuggler unneccessary. Feel free to send it in my direction...

You might wanna have a look at the G2 throttle tube, which I found made a big difference to throttle response.

Enjoy.

Ordered last night from Bike effects:

G2 Throttle Tube

Blue Sea Fuse Block

Centech AP-170R Power Relay Kit

Skyway Clutch/Brake Reservoir Mount

Will try taking off a return spring when I install the throttle tube. Thanks for the recommendation to remove a spring, doesn't cost anything to give it a try.

Have mount now for detector. Now have to decide upon a mount for my XM radio.

Any suggestions on mounting location for fuse block?

Hum, I really enjoy having the smuggler when riding solo. Thanks for the offer though :)

Pulled the tank last night and released the center spring, then adjusted the cable to remove excess slop.

Did some more ordering: yama trunk, pad rest, and mount heading this way.

Then ordered these to give me obtions for mounting my XM and passport:

MAGNETIC RADAR DETECTOR MOUNT

FJR-1300 RAM BALL RESERVOIR COVER

FJR1300 TRIPLE TREE RAM BALL NUT

CLUTCH AND BRAKE RESERVOIR BALL CLAMP

Last but not least, wanted to protect my tank paint and have some reflection from the side cases:

RFKSB1 Saddle Bag Reflector Kit

03YAMAHA_TPK Yamaha Yamaha Sportbikes tank protectors.

Want to have Day Long redo my seats this winter.

Only thing remaining will be PCIII and maybe some slipon cans, but will need to find the lowest price possible because I've spent enough for now.

Lucky SOB, I saw that 4 sale and was sick over it. I bought the exact same bike last year, left over new. 13k for bike, 800 smuggler, 100 throttle miester. You see where I'm going. You got a SMOKIN DEAL!!!!!! Enjoy your new toy

Mount your fuse box under your tank on top of the heat shield.. Leave some slack in the wires and use velcro to the box, shield connection... PERFECT place.. Centrally located power point

You can move it when you do a tbs or other work.. Plenty of mounting room

18K like this and no the heat is not to much for it

Still ordering parts:

Just ordered passenger peg extensions for the wife https://www.cycle-istic.com/PegExtenders.html

Managed to get in on the GB going on right now for PCIII, which meant I had to spring for headers a few minutes ago from holeshot. Will use stock mufflers for the time being because I have spent way too much money for now.

In the future want to obtain a Russell day long seat, hopefully a GB during December will happen like the last two years. Just can NOT afford these right now.

Thanks for all the suggestions I've received from y'all,

What happens when you blow a fuse in the middle of the night? Now you gotta get under the tank. It's a lot easier and more accessible to mount it under the riders seat. Plenty of room for it too.

You are going to love this bike more with every ride! B)
I have to agree. After some trouble on my part, finally got the G2 installed today, and took for a test ride between rain showers. Man does the throttle transition better. I've heard so many people talk about the PCIII being the ultimate solution, and have just received the tracking number from where I got it on the Group Buy going on now.

Excellent! I just got an 07AE up here in DFW. We should meet halfway and have a drink of coffee sometime!!!

Congrats! I have a 2006 AE also with many of the similar options (including Corbin Smuggler)! Now all you need to add is a cruise control and top case and you are "Good-to-GO"!

BTW, I have ridden through Angleton on my way down to pick up HWY 35 for a coastal ride! If you ever are in the College Station area, let me know!

Best Regards,

Shane

gunny

I recently washed my bike and got the grip troller switch board wet, which caused the heated grips to be on high even w/switch off. It happened right before a 300 mile ride in 80 degree temps and 15 other riders waiting, so I had to get grips turned off quik. I just took off the rear seat and pulled the fuse. :D

Any fuse should be easily accessible

Have fun & ride safe

Big brown santa truck came to visit Tuesday night, unfortunetly I was working all night, but got to see the presents Wednesday morning.

Received fenda extender, holeshot headers, yama trunk, yama backrest, and power commander from group buy. Trunk mounting bracket is on back order until 10July08. Wife really wants the trunk on.

Have installed headers & PCIII. Just simply unbelievable how much better the bike runs. Still using stock mufflers, but may purchase holeshot mufflers in the future. Will need to hear them on a bike in person first to make sure they aren't to load.

Here's a comparison pic between stock and holeshot headers.

Used ABS Cement to from the plumbing section at hardware store to glue on fenda extender.
