For sure, the PR's are a good selection for this bike. I've never had traction issues with this tire or any others except for Z6's. No matter the suspension or air adjustment, those sums-a-******* just wouldn't stick and flopped into turns in a wholly unearthly way. On the other hand, they did provide great mileage.
Bet those damn Z4s I had sucked more!
Actually, I liked the 4's better than the 6's. Hey, lets ask Randy!

You guys are having way too much fun in this thread... :D

Jeff - I'll try them out set like that

I would love to compare the Pilot Roads to my Pilot Powers. Not too many people run Pilot Powers on the FJR, but I ride really aggressive and would rather pay the extra money than even be nervous about them giving in a tight corner. So far I love them and have hit some situations where I think I might have ate it if I didn't have such sticky tires. No way to tell that though...

The bike had a peculiar "dance" to it. It would not even hold a straight line when in any kind of "dirty" air. (side winds, draft air, etc.)
Scab - In my particular case, I haven't noticed anything you describe. The next day after getting the tires, I probably went out for about 100 miles or so, in varying types of riding, and never noticed any pulling or dancing, including going over the Sunshine Skyway bridge which is huge. Granted the tires were brand new for me, but maybe you just got a bad tire?

I see we live in the same "general" neck of the woods. I grew up in St. Pete but now live near Crystal River about 80 miles north of you. I'm going to purchase some new Michelin Pilot Roads for my 2005 FJR ABS that I just purchased last month. It was barely used with only 1320 miles on it but the rear Metzler MEz4 looks about half worn out now that I have 2450 miles on it. The front MEz4 looks only slightly better and I keep the recomended air pressure in them and check them before each ride. I'm 6' tall and weigh only 170 so I don't overload the tires any. I've had great experiences with Michelin Pilot Roads on my 2002 Yamaha FZ1. I'm on my second rear tire (180/55 ZR 17) and I still have the 1st Pilot Road on the front (120/70 ZR 17). The FZ1 uses the same tire sizes as the FJR. The front has 11700 miles on it and the 1st rear Pilot Road had 9200 miles on it when I replased it last summer. I'm not the hardest or fastest rider around but, I not scared to "pull the trigger" on the FZ1 either. It's had plenty of time in the "twisties" on the edges of the tires. I don't know if I'll get the same results on the FJR but my experience with the Pilot Roads on the FZ1 was so good (there are a lot of happy FZ1 owners on the FZ1 Owner Assn. website who will agree) that I will buy them without reservation. On the FZ1 they are smooth, neutral handling, very good in the wet, excellent in dry conditions, and LONG wearing, in short, confidence inspiring! In my book, that's enough to give them a try on the FJR, and I'll bet I'll like them every bit as much. :D

Cheers, Rick
